neutral switch and flapper valve

anyone ever check the operation of their flapper valve? i followed the manual about disconnecting the neutral switch and revved the engine to 6 grand on the center stand and nothing happens. Just want to make sure I'm doing this right before I go and rip the airbox apart checking vacuum lines and such.
