VFR Discussion Group -> Slippery Sargent Seat

I just got my new Sargent seat for my 02VFR and have a problem. It is quite a bit more slippery than my stock seat, and causes me to slip fore and aft on the bike when slowing down and accelerating. Has any one else had this problem??? Any way to make it grip better without recovering it? Or will it get better with time as the protectant from the factory wears off?? Thanks for your help!!

Which material did you order it with? No problems with mine and I have that diamond hatch pattern (non-leather).

No problems here too, either wearing leathers or textile... 2002 with CarbonFX for me.

The material is different. I slide a little too, but I've gotten use to it. I press down with my feet to hold on. Riding on the seat all day far out weighs the little sliding. Plus it makes it easier in the twisties when your sliding across the seat to change your balance.

I have a Corbin that has this same problem. It is unacceptable and I've never really used it much. It's the smooth leather finish.

It is manageable with my leathers but totally unmanageable with Cordura or mesh pants. Almost dangerous it's so bad.

Corbin was totally and utterly clueless and useless when I called in to ask what I could do. Like they'd never heard of the problem before. "We can't help you in any way."

I actually like it slick, because it's much easier to slide my butt around in the twisties. A sticky seat requires me to have to lift my big butt off the seat first before I shift my weight, my Sargent isn't slick enough with my leathers on ! <_<
I don't commute at all so all I'm worried about is being able to slide my butt quickly. I've even Armorall'ed my seat trying to make it slicker !
If your Sargent is slicker than mine, I'll trade ya ! :thumbsup:

I though my CarbonFX was slick the first few times I rode with it as well. After a few rides I didn't notice then started appreciating the fact that it was slick, makes cornering soo much easier. :)

I had the same problem....sent it back for a refund. I'm still using the stock seat.
