VFR Discussion Group -> Another new Viffer rider

Hey All,

Well after riding sportbikes for far too long I've decided to get myself a couch with a two wheels attached. :D I have been on two wheels since I was about 4 (Dad started me young) and streetbikes for about 12 years now. I will be 29 come may and with three kids I've gone with a tourer. I was intrigued by the V4 as I've had a Ducati 996, Aprilia Mille, Triumph Daytona, Yamaha R1 + R6, ZX6R, and now my 02 VFR. I enjoy riding the bike around town and haven't had the time to take it into the twisties but from what I've ridden it's a very nice steed. I know I won't be taking it to the track anytime soon (that's what I've got an RS250 and R6 for) but for a daily commuter and some long road trips I should be alright. Have already been thinking about mods too however; I want to ride it a little while longer before I do.

I'm sure you'll be seeing me post some more.

I wouldn't call a VFR a couch on wheels though. ;)

It can do track days quite well. Mine has. Although with your list of other bikes I can understand you not using the VFR for a track day. :D

Welcome Kevin. Your "couch with 2 wheels" comment should start a discussion I've wanted to hear- what kind of bike is it really. State of the art racer it was 20 years ago but now it's a gentlemans' sport tourer, or in my case (I maybe senior member at 59 1/2) an old fart's sportbike. I'm about to do a 1000 mi ironbutt run this Summer. That will be a challenge on a VFR.

I'm going to change my standard bars on my BMW to something nearly straight, to get me leaning forward. All my life I've been an upright type but I've seen the lite. I've got 10-12 years before I submit to a goldwing.

Thanks for the welcome. It was a toss up between the new Triumph Sprint and the 02 VFR. I've had a ton of problems with 'Tona and not one with my small island bikes. I also saved about $7k as I got my 02 with 8k for $3900 so I'm not complaing about that :D. Like I said, I feel like I'm getting old but not nearly as old as Gray1 :beer: :lol:
