My Vtec doesn't kick in for the first 10 secondes when I ride . My VFR just started doing this today , I thought I was crazy at first but I'm not. I warm up the bike pretty good but it doesn't matter. I go for a ride and let the bike sit for about 15 minutes and when I go the Vtec doesn't kick in for the first 10 secondes or so. Anybody ever had that problem before ? I gonna go see Honda on Monday about this.

Thanx

VTEC will only operate when the coolant temperature is above 145 degrees or so. Even with a long warm up at a stand still it might not get there. Switch your temperature gauge over to coolant temperature and see what its reading...

I didn't know there was a coolant temperature gauge , I knew there was an engine temperature gauge.

The coolant temp IS the engine temp.
The VTEC will start to work at 149f.
Did you get an owners manual with your bike?

OK , well I'll try to notice the temperature next time.

Yes I did get the owners manual

And if the engine doesn't get near this temp, you've got a knackered thermostat which is stuck open.
