Replacement elbow armour. Allegedly CE certified. Did not even last 2 seasons before disintergrating middle of summer last year. Have yet to dig through my receipts to identify the villain. Ordered level 2 replacements from (I hope) a reputable source.
For the record the originals that came with the jacket lasted 10+ years.

So no Aerostich gear? I do own a somewhat flimsy Touratech summer jacket with just enough protection and tons of ventilation, but honestly I wear the 'Stich 97% of the time these days.

That is a leather jacket with armor (usually). Why is an Aerostich required over that?

No you didn't. Just seemed like you thought it was an obvious oversight. I live in Seattle where it ranis a lot and can be cold. Doesn't mean I'm always riding in it, or want that apparel on. I am 90% in leather.

I replaced the original elbow and shoulder pads in my textile jacket about four years ago. They had hardened and started to crack and split apart. I'm not sure how old they were, but it was probably 10+ years. I replaced them with Icon D30 LP2 armor, which had great reviews online. I like that the pads have a vented design, which should keep me a little cooler on hot days. It took a little work to put them into my jacket's pockets, but they fit just fine.
I did a track day a little over a year ago in a full suit that was given to me. It went great until I took the suit off in my trailer and noticed all of the strange dust. Thanks for the reminder that I never ordered new pads.
All pads of that era do that. Pads aren't lifetime use. Bohn makes nice ones I just put in mine.

They were "new" 2 seasons ago.
Current stock? Maybe they used old stock pads. OEM pads are pretty crappy...i've "powdered" many of them. It isn't right, but it is. Most never even check them...but they'll find out if they need them!
I still put them in my gear, but generally wear a mesh shell with real armor under everything but my Vanson gear, which has excellent armor that stays in place.
It burns me up that they put crap armor in cordura, then let it flop all over in there, no where near our hard parts.

I just checked some 20 y.o. jackets I have lying around and the pad feel like new. Although I am pretty sure they will not be as impact absorbing as when new.

This is a good PSA to bring up for spring. Don't remember if it was my pants or jacket, but the armor fell apart and I replaced it with whatever STG was selling.
Well, after posting this I can say with some conviction that vfrd is alive, well, and above all a group of like minded riders who do care about the saftey and well being of others.....!
As far as the source of the pads, well I went through all my receipts and could find nothing, until it dawned on me. Two years ago just before my daughter took her MSF course on her scooter, her wind screen broke. In order for her to take the course on her own bike it had to be defect free. The only place I could find a screen that I could get in a hurry was Amazon. I do not have an account with them, but my wife does. Apparently I included the elbow pads also to get free shipping.
Yeah, Mea Culpa. The screen was crap but worked for the weekend, you know how the pads worked out.

Knox make very good kit. I have a couple of pairs of their armoured jeans, a vented jacket and a couple of pairs of gloves. Nice fit, well made and quality D30 armour.
