I'm looking for some help here. I know this might seem trivial, but, I'd like to name my new red '05 VFR but I'm stumped! So - post here - the name you've given your bike. And if you have any suggestions for mine - it would be very helpful. Thank you, Jane.

I tend to get somewhat personal with my "namable objects;" my Forester is Beast, so I thought of Beauty for my VFR... but settled on Raven.
On the Red version of the Very Fine Ride, how about Ruby? :idea3:
The English magazine Bike reckons that 'Smooth V-four is so nicely built you could buy it some lingerie and call it Kylie'. (They are refering to 1997-2001 models)

Well, I wasn't going to name it 'cause I think that's kinda gay but if I did name it, in accordance with your wise guidance, then I'd have to call it "Woody."

How about "Flaming Gypsy" or "Gypsy Queen". I agree with Smoothrider that you should incorporate Gypsy into the name.
I don't have a name for mine. If I did, my wife would make too much fun of me. I simply call it The VFR, and I also call it alot smarter than owning a Harley!

Went riding today and just got back............ I call mine REV.......cause my throttle never stays still...... Name must reflect something personal...
By now you've all seen my plate . Many thanks to HS (?) for featuring it, by the way. So how many letters and/or numbers are you allowed on your plate? Give us some idea of what you do for a living or hobbies (obviously your bike) and maybe we can come up with a good plate for you.

I gave my bike a male's name because it gots more balls than I... you see the serial number is five zeros (balls) and the numeral two... so it's Balls Two Mr.RC45...
Just monkey. Because I like monkeys. But only in a fraternal way. Except when they throw poop. Not so much with the poop throwing. Or when they escape and maul people. But, I guess lots more humans escape and maul people than monkeys. I wonder how many humans throw poop?
How ironic! You guys named your bikes? My WIFE named mine "My Mistress". I figure that's fair. I spend 5 days a week with my wife and 2 days a week with my bike.
Good answer! But, (I'm embarrassed here) when I printed the screen name I pressed "send" before adding Jane to the end of Gypsy. (Therefore, GypsyJane). Gypsy is actually the name of my dog. She came to me fully grown and with a name so I didn't have to name her. I truly can't name anything - not even my screen name. Sad. Very very sad.....
SmoothRider, Apr 10 2005, 12:42 PMHi Jane,
I'm in the same situation. How about Gypsy like your screen name? Or possibly, the Blur.

Hi V REX - Lets see.... 6 letters I believe are allowed on the plate. The Yukon is known for it's wilderness...so maybe something there??? And, I'd like to name my bike a male name therefore, "my mistress" doesn't suit me. (LOL) Honestly I don't want to be riding a girlie named bike all summer! I won't go there..... ;)
Something wild, something fun and adventurous would be terrific. Maybe something red????? Thanx everyone!
Jane :wheel:

My GS was named "Mathilde" and my old, red VFR was named "Laetitia" (after a character in a book). I don't think I can name the new one until we've decided on a name for the baby. lol
Hmmmmmm...
Maybe something from Greek mythology? Perseus, Nemesis (oh, that one's feminine--but not "girly")....
Norse mythology?
You could try google for some ideas on those. Maybe a name tied to an explorer/adventurer?
Now I'm not going to be able to stop thinking about names for mine!
Hey Brent - please don't get the baby name and the bike name mixed up or your wife will kill me! :D I like the explorer/adventurer names and the idea from norse mythology. Maybe I'll also look at something regional like Southern Tuchone or Tlinquit names (aboriginal). .... ah, now I'm thinking.....

LOL! That is so true......I'm almost certain in a few years there will be a microchip made to fit the VFR and then is will come when you call. I wonder if it will beg for a biscuit? (Or a litre of oil?) :idea3:
ggathagan, Apr 10 2005, 07:29 PMYou know, I bet I've called mine a hundred different names.......
It still won't come....
Are there any brain kits for VFR's ??
