Greetings everyone. Long time listener, first time caller. I'm having an issue with my 03 where the engine will just cease to run. The first couple of times this happened was going over a bump or washboard series of bumps. If I flip the run/stop switch off and back on, it immediately restores power. Some sharper or bigger bumps when I expect that it might happen it doesn't, and other times a little ripple mid-corner will kill it, but again a quick flip of the run/stop switch and it's running again. It does seem to be happening more frequently and randomly. At the end of the ride today, I was slabbing it across town on the interstate running at a steady 8K RPM (waiting for a hole to open up) and it dies. I screw with the switch and it comes back, only to do it again.
Has anyone every had anything like this happen? Any suggestions of things I could check before taking it to the "stealership" to have it checked out?

First of all, how bout a "New Member Post" in the "New Member Section." (Insert mad faced Hurricane... emoticon here) :pissed: Second, haven't heard of this before but I would check the engine switch assembly. Not sure if you leave your ride outside but you may have some corrosion or something inside the switch. The tip-over switch might be going bad also. Something is obviously loose somewhere. Wish I had more advice for you. Keep us posted.

My last bike was an Aprilia caponord. Some Capo owners reported a similar problem, which was traced back to the sidestand switch. You might check adjustment there and for shorting.

I would look to see if you have a loose or bad connection in the switch. Other than that I have never heard of that problem before.
do you mean you can flick the switch and have the engine jump start? or do you need to stop, cycle the switch and then start? does the starter turn if you don't cycle the switch? cause if you can do a rolling start after just cycling the switch, i'd say the culprit is the switch. but then again, pretty hard to tell from here! :huh:

I can be riding along and when it dies, I just cycle the switch off and on with the clutch out, in gear and it is instantly running again. - no stop required, just a lean angle adjustment to keep from tipping over when the engine unexpectedly quits.
