I did a bunch of maintenance on my new to me, '97 VFR with 9500 miles on the clock.
I changed the oil and put in Mobil 1 V-Twin and an M1-108 oil filter. The M1-108 is about 1/2" shorter than the stock filter. Is this ok, and will it cause any harm? Also, there was plenty of room for a longer oil filter, so next time I think I will go with the M1-110...
Flushed the coolant also. It looked fine, but I think it was the original coolant and it has been longer than the recommended 2 years.
Flushed front and rear brakes and clutch. Fluid was pretty brown. Now it is clear.
Changed spark plugs. Replaced them with the recommended stock NGKs. They were original, and were ready for replacement.
Lubed and cleaned the chain.
Now I am good to go for the summer!
Everything was rather easy to do. The spark plugs were a little tough because of lack of room, but not too bad.

The hardest part of the whole job is removing and installing the damned plastics! :pissed: I almost wished I had my SV650. I only ended up breaking one plastic fairing clip... I bought a couple extras at my local bike shop for a whopping $3.17 EACH... What a joke! :pissed:

Bike is much smoother now. It had Honda HP4 oil in it before. Not sure if it is smoother due to the plugs or the oil, but it sure runs nice!

Anbody know if I am ok running the M-108 even though it is a half inch shorter than the stock Honda filter that was on it? Obviously, next oil change I will use the M-110 unless you guys think I should change out to the bigger filter now... :D I just don't know how oil filters work and if installing a smaller sized filter could restrict flow etc...
