There isn't a "Goodbye" forum, so I'll post this here. I mostly lurk, but I appreciate all the info provided.

Truth be told, I've really missed my '02 XX since I sold it (before the VFR), so I bought a new '03 XX today. Picking it up (and dropping off the VFR) this Saturday.

Good luck with the XX. BTW were in the world did you find a "new" XX and for how much?

Still a Honda and a damn nice one, red ? I almost got a 2000 XX and bought the stupid ST1100 trying to be grown up. Stupid. 1 VFR and a CBR1000RR later and all I can think about is another CBR. Stop in and visit with us and post some pics of that new ride. I wonder where I would be now if I had bought the XX 4 years ago ?

There are lots of 03 XX's (last year they had them in the US) still in crates in warehouses. Honda has special deals on them, in the $8500-$9000 range. They went back to a gloss black in '03 also (my '02 was the silver).

Wouldn't it look awesome to put a VFR swing arm and rear wheel on an XX? For 8500 plus the cost of a few parts it may be a realistic dream-machine. Then of course some high mount pipes and it might be a very trick ride. Would this work?

Really, these two bikes weigh about the same. In fact I read one test that listed the VFR's wet weight a couple pounds heavier, and the XX has a legit 30+hp boost.

The real differences on the xx and the vfr are something that you can handle or not. The obvious is 30 more hp. It is heavier and carries the cg. differently. The real kicker for me was the seating position. Climb of the vfr and sit on the blackbird. It won't take long to know if you can do that or not. The blackbird is a fine bike. Honda did alot of things real well on it. That said, it's a different category from the vfr. I believe my dealer said the price was marked down $1400 on his cost.

Yeah, the Interceptor definately has a more upright seating position, but I did many 600+ mile days on my old XX, so it works for me. biggrin.gif

See ya Conq.... (I lurk on the fireblade site myself, shhh). At least you had the Viffer long enough to warn us asphalt owners about the gloss hidden beneath those wing decals! beer.gif

I'm sure it's doable - start with comparing the VFR and CBR swingarm pivot and rear shock mounts. I would use a 98+ VFR swingarm since it also has the LBS rear brake like the CBR.

You might also ask around an 1100XX forum and see what you can find out.

C'mon, what are you waiting for !!!

Well, here's a couple with the RAM SSSA conversion, like Safe-T said, anything is doable.

Well, the deed is done. The Ex and the New had a little time to get to know one another while I filled out paperwork.
