I think GenMars makes some nice mirror extenders for the 6th gen, but I think they're about $50-60. You may also want to check Dynamohum. By the way, you can also make them yourself (as I did). Find some inch thick plastic from a plastic supply house, cut to fit using the mirror as a template, buy longer bolts from the local ACO, and you're done...all for about $10.
I put a set of Genmar extensions on my '05 VFR and the fit and finish on them is excellent. I bought them at www.azmusa.com I think I paid about $55.00 for them. Installed in about 15 minutes and no longer looking at my elbows.
I put the Genmar Mirror Extenders on my o2 VFR and I can definitely still see my elbows- just less of them. You will be able to see more of what's behind you but not immensely more. I think they're just okay.
Not sure if I've got the name correct, but I think it's Travis, over on the VFR mailing list makes them for like $15. Every bit as good as the genmars for less dough. Hit the archives for 'mirror extenders' and you'll find his name.

Just found the link and he seems to have made them for at least 98-01, not sure if it's the same pattern for '02 and up:
I can't remember where I bought mine, but I am a wide shouldered guy and definitely enjoy these extensions.. It actually made the mirrors useful once I installed them. Before that I was just staring at my arms and elbows.. I highly recommend them.

That was me and they are sold. They did work pretty well, HOWEVER, they made the bike too wide for tighter lane splitting here in good old CA. I was able to eliminate my elbow view by adjusting the angle of the mirrors more outward. I also use convex stick on's (I don't know how some of you folks ride without them!)

Try www.Azmotorsports.com and look for Y2K mirror extenders for your bike. They cost me $69.40 including shipping and work great.
Yeap, that's me. And nope, the '02+ have a smaller footprint.
Someone had emailed me with the offer to send a base from a broken mirror, but I wasn't sure if I'd have the time to gen up the new ones (2 yo and 3 month old mini-me's take up a BOAT load of time).
My extenders will fit 4th and 5th gen (pix on my web page), but fit the y2k style mirrors the best (go figure wink.gif eh)
Oh, and went to laconia fri & sat. Saw a couple of squid.gif on viffers, new and old. Saw a pristine '93 too.
I made extenders for about $12 total investment. If you can find a plastics shop close and have some decent tools, it's not that hard. Maybe I should make a batch for some of you guys? PM me if interested, and I can give you the blow by blow on how to do it.

Why does everyone make these out of plastic? I am going to use my works CMM and reverse engineer - create a CAD 2D spline of the mirror base shape. Then on the CNC, mill a piece of aluminum, pop in 2 holes and send it out for powder coating. Will/Should look like it came from the factory. $55 for plastic Genmars - I don't think so. blink.gif

Sorry dude. I don't happen to have CAD, a CMM, and a CNC mill in my garage. You can make them out of plastic with some basic woodworking tools. I have diapers and formula I need to buy... unsure.gif
Hey Lobster, I did not mean to come across like that. I understand the money thing, I have a 10 week old baby myself. Well when I get mine made, if they work well, I can make up some more. I don't think it would cost that much to make. I will let you know how they turn out. beer.gif

Dude, no worries. I'm just jealous of your tool inventory! If you're willing to do all the work, I know of at least three members looking for some extenders, and I'd even be interested since mine are the prototypes and look kind of rough.
(Bobinottawa, VFR FLA, Rivckyo, and me)
Please post some pics and let us know if you'd be willing to sell pairs of them.
