Some 2004 Asphalt Functional Farkles

I posted this in the "what color" thread, but thought this might be a stand-alone post. My functional farkles include: (1) Corbin Carbon Fiber Seat; (2) Luggage Racks; (3) Throttlemeister (standard, unpolished); (4) Sirius Starmate (Ram gas tank mount); (5) Warm-n-safe controller (for Gerbing set-up); (6) Jastek Steering-Stem Powerlet; (7) Stompgrip tank panels; and (8) a tank pad.

I'm happy with each of these modifications. Here are some pics:

I know that red is faster, silver is smoother, white is classier and yellow is just plain happy, but I really like the military-spec bada$asphalt. The asphalt lends itself well to the angular and sinister bat-like appearance of the VTEC. I know others aren't enamored with it, but what the hell.

I have a red one but I just wanted to tell you I would have an asphalt in a heartbeat. I really like the color. As long as it doesn't get any shiny spots on it like around the tank and stuff from normal wear. The flat color is what I like about it. I even saw another brand bike with a flat green color and another with a flat silver. I can't remember what bikes they were though, but they really looked good.

Which Stompgrip did you get? I do not see a listing for a VFR on their website.

I wanted the Asphalt so bad, but I could only find Red locally.

The universal kit. No cutting required. Some folks are recommending another tank panel grip, http://techspec-usa.com/index.html which is supposed to be removable. I'm happy with mine, but haven't had them on the bike long enough to give a performance report. The thread is in Body Modifications Paint, under Stompgrip Tank Panels.

I also have Asphalt 2004, but when I ordered a little bottle of touch up paint, it's called Gunpowder. Now that sounds better than asphalt. So mine is Gunpowder. My custom seat cover is flint grey. I have Gunpowder and Flint. Hope I don't lay it down, the sparks might ignite it.

I heldout buying my VFR for 3 (summer) months until I could get one in Asphalt. Couldn't be happier. Thanks for posting the mod pics. biggrin.gif

I LOVE my Asphalt VFR, I wouldn't have traded in my Shadow Sabre after less than a year if I couldn't have gotten an Asphalt viffer. I've noticed that when I look at the bike closely it's not really "flat" paint at all. Not like what I envision when someone says flat black anyway. I think it's just mixed to appear much like flat black paint.

Since this has turned into a "I love my asphalt VFR" thread, I guess I bettter chime in.

As you can see, not only does the VFR look better in black, the scenery gets better too! biggrin.gif

From past riding experience, I would never own an all black motorcycle again. 1-Very hot in the Summer. 2- Oh I'm sorry Mr. Motorcycle, I didn't see you from my car window. However, each to their own. Black is a neat color. Just wouldn't own one myself.

Hey, 3M makes black reflective tape that you could add to the bottom of your fairing for added safety. Looks kind of neat during the day and makes you more visible at night. Best wishes, and ride safely!

It's a Sirius satellite radio antenna. It's velcroed to the tail, the Starmate mounts through a RAM system to the gas tank bolts, and power comes through a Jastek steering stem outlet.

Looks like you partially destickered and relabeled your ride. I never tried the cowl. I like the look. fing02.gif
