Tok Tokkie's post regarding his frame cracking expedition, plus the modifying of a standard 25mm upper bearing to fit the VFR's 26mm steering head reminded me of an old post I had saved away from the Big VFR List.
This is from Tony Materazzi, all credit to him. It's the OE part numbers you need to order tapered rollers to fit your VFR800. They must have come standard on other Honda models, and just happen to fit a Viffer. Not sure about the earlier 750 models though.
Note: I went with the All Balls parts, so I haven't tried these parts myself, but if Tony says they work, it's good enough for me. He's quite thorough and a true moto-head (check his .sig).

Bearing, (upper) - 91015-425-832
Bearing, (lower) - 91016-371-000

Dust seal, (upper) - 53214-KA4-701
