So I was looking for some cheap mods to do to the ol' girl. I cannot afford that nice Remus CF system I've been wanting, but I was kind of tired of the gleaming polished look of the cans, so I came up with a crazy idea... I got some 1800 deg. BBQ paint and coated the heat shields on the cans and pipe. I wasn't sure if I should do it, but I took a chance and was very pleased with the results. It goes well with the new black Mag-Knight tank bra and smoke double-bubble... tougher and stealthier looking, methinks biggrin.gif
[image: user posted image][image: user posted image]here's a shot of the double-bubble too...
[image: user posted image]I like it... helps cut down on some of the wind turbulence and I don't have to duck my head down nearly as far when at, um... "higher" speeds goofy.gif
Up next are the Motovation sliders!! fing02.gif
You're almost there fing02.gif .. my entire exhaust is blacked out too.

Nice job on the blacked out cans. Hmm i wouldnt have thought I would like the look but it looks sweet beer.gif
Sweet ! All you 2 need now is some...DECALS ! At least the VFR ones for the front for Christ's sake idea3.gif
Oh and polish those pipes under the bike by the catcon. They are stainless BTW, get some Blue Magic of SS polish and try it. It comes out nice and only needs clean-up once in awhile. Ever notice how the VFR pics in the mags the pipes always look so nice and silver ?
I also noticed you had to bend your TX LP to fit between the pipes. What I did was trim the 2 sides and made it fit that way. Damn TX plates.

Yeah, I see what you mean...
[image: user posted image]I think I would prefer to have the entire exhaust system blacked out... I would like to paint the frame and radiators black as well, but don't want to completely take apart the bike wink.gif
I used the same paint on my old 85 Maxim 600. I did the engine and sanded the edges of the cooling fins. Had to run the engine after painting to help with the curing process for the paint. Whew, talk about curling nose hairs. Couldn't keep 2 bikes so I sold the Maxim and kept the '92 VFR. Still have the latter.

How did you get the gold calipers, looks fantastic.
Gold calipers are standard on ABS bikes I believe.
Well ain't that some crap, I want them.
