About damn time!

So, in anticipation of my RC51 front end swap, I bought a set of 90' aluminum valvestems for the GL800-RR. Like months ago. dry.gif

Well, I go to install the front one the other day after getting the wheel powdercoated and lo and behold, it's too frickin' small! pissed.gif

Seems it's meant for Euro wheels. 8.3mm hole instead of 11.3mm like the Japanese wheels are.

Two intensive days of searching yeilded NOTHING. I know the company that imports them, I called them and they are available, but there isn't a vendor on God's green earth that is willing or able to order them even when I provide the correct part number.

So today, quite by happenstance, I run across a site called Motowheels.com, not even looking for the valvestems.

Whaddya think they stock? Correct 11.3mm size 90' billet aluminum valvestems IN MY CHOICE OF COLOUR!

Not cheap, but hey, I can't find anyone else in North America that's got 'em.

And don't mind the automated checkout with the ridiculous UPS shipping charges. I called them and they said they now use Fed-Ex instead of UPS, just that the website isn't updated yet and they will refund your credit card the $$ difference as they choose the cheapest Fed-Ex shipment method, and of course, valvestems are kinda small and light, so the shipping is less. How much less, I don't know yet.

So do they have some sort of rubber seal on them that I can't see in the picture???

These aren't quite as nice as yours, but I've been happy with them so far, especially for $1.05 each.

Honda actually has a set of 90 degree stems as well for about $14 a set, but they mount similar to regular valve stems by having to pull it through the hole and get the rubber to seal around the hole. What a pain in the butt. The ones with nuts on them are 10 times easier to install (and remove if you need to).

My Pacific Coast has them too.

Do they behave? I'd heard/read horror storied about angled valvestems snapping and whatnot.

Can't have any of that whatnot stuff going on.

I've had the $15 ea Honda 90 degree stems installed for about 3 months now, not a problem yet. They are a bit annoying in that you have to hold the other side of the stem while you push on it with your chuck/pressure gauge, though. I have had one of them rotate in the hole a little, but neither one leaks, and both have seen about 1000 miles, including a few quick spurts to around 120 mph.

My dealer did have the smaller 8.3mm ones pictured too, they were what I wanted in the first place, I too was annoyed when I found they were too small! So perhaps I'll have to order up a set of these here bigger ones and have them installed when it's time to change the shoes... smile.gif

Yea, there's an O-ring that you can't see in the 1st pic. You can see a bit of it in the 2nd pic, top left valvestem.

Sold the wrong sized ones on EBAY, so there's one small detail off my back.

I've got the Marchesini 90` valve stems on my '99. In fact I have an extra pair that never made it onto my CBR.
My bud Mark has them in stock at his shop. Spider Racing dot com.

Spider Racing was one of the many places I emailed and one of the few who responded in the affirmative.

Unfortunately (fortunately?) by then, I had already located them at motowheels, quite by accident I might add. huh.gif

Oh, and the ones I would up getting were made by Ariete in Italy.

As it turns out, they are the same as the ones you got. Don't know where I got the idea they were made by Marchesini, though. I may have seen them somewhere else and mixed them up...
