Color matched chainguard/hugger

I had gotten my chainguard and NWS hugger colormatched and painted after getting some ideas from Kevin, and Scootr kindly donating his old OEM chainguard so I thought I'd post a couple of pics.

that works real well on a silver bike. I wonder what it would look like on a red one?

Canucklhead: It's a Corbin seat that I had them do a "nosejob" on. Basically shaving the sides of the seat where your inner thighs sit...brings you closer to the ground.

Thanks and I don't see why it wouldn't work with red also. Scootr's got the Secdem combo in red.

I had really wanted a integrated hugger/chainguard back three years ago but without getting in to details had bad luck with those that were available at the time.

So I ended up with the NWS "ghost" hugger and OEM guard. Then I saw Kevin's red painted OEM chainguard and got to thinking about painting mine silver. Got some tips from him on painting and Scootr sent me his old guard (thanks guys) and one thing led to another and I decided to have the whole thing colormatched to hopefully get the "integrated" look.

Did you get the hugger from the UK or is there someone in the States carrying NWS? Was thinking of the Harris guard/hugger but that looks sweet.

Hmmm, not sure if I'm in on that one or not... one thing for sure, that chain and sprocket are about as new and shiny looking as they probably have ever been smile.gif now that definately I likee smile.gif H

NEOhioVFR: As far as tips...not many really as I took the two pieces to a painter and had him color match and paint the pair.

dbs05: I got the hugger almost three years ago through Dynamohumm in Canada. Don't know if they still carry them or not. I haven't heard of anyone in the US carrying them but I'm not that up on that so maybe someone does?

Don't know what kind of paint the painter used but assume it was the same type stuff he uses on other bike/auto painting that he does. He did the color match as he said it would be a lot cheaper to go that route as opposed to using Color-Rite's OEM matched paint.

He did all the prep work, but I think mainly it invloved degreasing, etc.

I like it.But what the paint crack if you accidently bent the guard?

Seems to be flexible enough...the painter said they paint plastic stuff all the time with no problems.

Done professionally, I would figure a flex agent went into the mix. With the agent, one would really have to do a number on it. Without, It would come to question. The guard is a pretty rigid piece. I'm more curious to vibration, (cracking), and debris, (chipping). comp13.gif

What are the 4 white diamonds under the seat, decoration or functional? I like the look of them & also the white rays on the cush-drive cover.

tongue.gif Those are actually reflective stickers. The diamond shaped ones are really black in color without light on them, while the strips are your typical white reflective type.

Figured that they're pretty discreet in daylight(rarely does anyone even notice them), but they should help me being more visible at night idea3.gif
