Rear Fender Mod

I lost my license plate last weekend because there was a cheesy fender removal kit on my bike. So I went to work on the factory fender with a razor blade and here is what I was left with.

I just removed the entire thing. The wheel-hugger keeps the crap out of the frame sufficiently. I drilled fresh holes in the plate and used angle brackets to fasten it to the old fender holes. Ran two LED's from the old plate light (PEP BOYS, for about $10) to light the tag.

Just kinda figgered everybody did this already. However, if there's interest from the mechanically impaired, I'll be happy to take some pix and post them.

You can just remove the entire fender, use the bracket thats holding it and modify that. I used some semi-rigid plastic to fill in the gaps between the cans.

Nice job! My TX license plate wouldn't fit between the cans as I moved it towards the rear. I tried to modify the fender elimination kit to move it back so the tire wouldn't hit it any more, and ran into the cans with the plate.

The plates actually sitting just below the cans. Mine wouldnt fit either. All you do is:

1. Remove fender and bracket from inside tailsection
2. Flip bracket around
3. Drill 2 holes to mount your light
4. Mount the bracket back up. The bracket is pretty bendable so you can adjust it after you see where your plate needs to be.
