I don't know if this will be like an OIL thread to some, but I searched and didn't find anything. Just curious what folks use. I have seen many aftermarket styles (i.e. splitfire, quadfire, iridium, etc...) and just the NGK OEM's. What do yall use, and why, how often do you change, and all the other questions?
The standard NGKs are fine. The last time I put in plugs I put iridiums in, because they didn't have a full set of the right ordinary NGKs in, and the iridiums were only slightly more expensive. Can't say I noticed any difference.
The regulars are probably fine, I figured if I had to order sparks as no one around here but the dealership carries MC plugs...I might as well splurge.
According to the official NGK website their iridium plugs last longer and require less voltage to fire. I've never had any trouble with the regular NGK's but considering how much time it takes to change the plugs on a 5th gen. I'm putting in the iridum's. BTW, I know you can at least double the mileage btw. plug changes over the recommended w/o the regular plugs looking worn at all. I'm thinking of triple the mileage for the iridum's What do you think ?

y2k owners manual lists CR9EH-9 as standard. ngk CR9EHIX-9 (iridium). i bought the iridium at the stealership for $14 each and just found them on sparklugs.com for $6.95. i had a set of standard so i installed them instead. so i have a set available for $14 each tongue.gif
Stock plugs seem fine to me, no problems anyway. The manual says to change them, what? every 16,000 miles? So rarely. fing02.gif I didn't think it was too hard to change them on my 5th gen bike. cool.gif And I'm no mechanic. goofy.gif
