Hey guys and gals,
I did a search on our great forum, but had no luck on anyone cleaning or removing fine scratches from the windscreen on the bike. I had a nieghbor tell me of something once, but as most things with this neighbor, I forgot it. Any help would be greatly app.

Search for Novus No.2 Plastic Polish+Fine scratch remover. They sell three different ones, #2 is the one you want. Rub it on, rub it in, buff it off. i've heard of people using toothpaste, but I haven't tried it yet. blink.gif

I used metal polish - I used Autosol but I've heard Brasso works in the same manner.
I'm with HispanicSlammer, I also use Plexus. Just spray it on and wipe it off, then buff until the film disappears. It's very slippery so no dust or dirt can stick, even bug splatter wipes right off. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

All the dealers around here sell Plexus, and I use it for just about everything. A small bottle stays under my seat for a quick wipe down when I get where I'm going. Fairing, windscreen, helmet and visor all get the Plexus treatment.

I've heard that McGuires has some interesting stuff too. Check their website forums, there's a story about a guy buffing his old F-150 tail lights to look like new. I believe he was using a heavier polish than Plexus though.
Plexus is the way to go. However, if you are trying to restore the clarity, try a liquid car polish or the Honda liquid polish. You might have to repeat several times, but the abrasives are not as harsh as a paste type. Then go with the Plexus. Good luck.
Try an aviation grade polish ohmy.gif BEFORE ohmy.gif you experiment.

Yeah, that's true. Their plastic polish has a good rep.
I've used Plexus for ages, but apparently Pledge works just as well. Plexus is just a wax (carnauba, or somesuch), just like Pldege is, but much dearer. I use Plexus on lots of things - for quick buff-up of paint or panels, helmet visor, helmet itself, and CDs and DVDs (it's excellent for rental ones that skip when played).
I use Pledge on the entire bike, clear bits included.
My new to me ride had some good scratches on the windshield. One morning I pulled down the 3M Scratch Remover and dragged out the dremel. I installed the cloth wheel and went to town. I went easy, found what pressure seemed to work best and 20 minutes later, no visible scratches. beer.gif

Add another for Plexus, great stuff. How do you fit a small bottle under your seat? I have a hard time putting the manual back with my insurance/registration in it.

I tried using plexus on a wind screen (my 02 vfr) that got some swirl marks. It didnt' really help at all, but then again I was just cleaning with it, didnt' use any buffing tools.
Then I discovered how to never put any swirl marks in the wind screens. Use Pledge. I have never touched a windscreen again except with Pledge, no problems.
For what it's worth, I use Novus No.2 polish & scratch remover at work to polish scratches out of $8000 Blackhawk helicopter window assemblies blink.gif
