Changing colors again and playing with different combos.

I tried black front and silver rear and didn't think there was enough black on the rear end.

Gloss black looks pretty good to me!

Don't have the black tank back yet, but do like the 5th gen euro VFR stickers.

OMG!!!

Are you for real?
#3
Your paint job is tight! Wow. fing02.gif
If you could get clear lenses, you'd have the total euro machine!
#4
This one hit me about as hard as. a. thread. about a guy who installed an RC51 motor & an RC 51 suspension set-Up into his 2002 VFR...

And then he painted it Black! biggrin.gif Remember that?

Wow!

I prefer the first photo over the photo with mostly shiny black with a grey tank....which I didn't care for at all. The first one is definately interesting and different. My first impression is "He crashed and couldn't find the right color cheap enough!". haha.

I'm not happy with anything yet, black tail w/silver seat cowl (not pictured) is kind of interesting!
#7
I think if you're going to mix and match the colors you might also want to play with various decal/tape kits.

E.x... if you're going to make the front black try putting a silver Honda wing onto the black fairing.
#8
I really like the 5th gen VFR decals. Can you please tell me where you got them?

Like BenSV said, some silver wings on the black fairing may tie the silver in nicer.

Sounds about right fing02.gif . The black front & rear with the silver tank looks like a black bike with a silver Bagster tank cover.

I also like the gloss black.
#10
What would the silver seat & tank look like with a silver front fender? Everything else being black, of course.

I don't like the wing kind of decals myself, I've always prefered solid bikes most of the time and do like to have something no one else will have. Still messing around with it.

The VFR decals came from dynomohumm.com in Canada, they had black 5th gens up there and 4-5 other colors we never see so I got some from a black 5th gen.
I have the part numbers at home if you need them, but you can call them too.

I thought of that last night, but I don't have a silver front fender right now.
I'll post more options pics later for comments.
My Carbon cans kind of disappear against the black bodywork and I think the black tail looses the lines of the bike a little more. unsure.gif
#13
Yah I don't like the wing decals all that much on a bike that is painted all in one color like the VFR...

However once you've made the change to mix and match the colors I think the decals may be necessary to make everything flow.

As it is some of the bikes lines don't match up with the colors now that you've swapped things around, putting the decals on might make the lines flow again.

Either that or the tank or front fairings need to go to a two-tone look. Expensive but might look hot. Maybe I'll photoshop something up tonight to give you an idea what I mean.

The shape of the radiator cut-out on the VTEC is probably going to work against you for any attempt to make a two-tone look or anything that flows, it looks good on the solid bike but it's the wrong shape to blend in with the lines when the paint is multiple colors IMO. On the CBR they made the fairing vent sit at an angle that is perpendicular to the "stripes" so it looks better...

I here what your saying Ben, it does need something. There are so many options ! blink.gif

I also might need brighter wheels if I go all black, I was thinking of a stealthy look at first. tongue.gif

That's one option that I was thinking about too?

Not sure though about mixing in general unsure.gif

I the black and the 5th gen sticker fing02.gif

Go all black wheel.gif
#19
I think that you should make one side silver and the other side black...you know...Dr Jekyl, Mr. Hyde type dealio.
#20
I'm all for a two-tone paint scheme, but doing it on a component basis isn't grabbing me. Have you considered laying down something that splits across the side fairings (and perhaps part of the tail cowl) to tie the tank color to the bottom of the bike? $.02

I would like to it in solid black with matching rims and a tapeworks red rimstripe. As well as clear signals and a smoked ZG DB.

Expensive though but I think it would be very sharp.
#23
Looking good!!
I'm definitely a sucker for black....all black. One thing comes to mind though....all black bike with a racing stipe down the front fender, tank, and seat cowl done in the same grey as your rims.

Not a problem, I have all that except the clear signals. I HATE Black wheels on just about anything so that will Not be the direction for this bike. Good ideas though. fing02.gif

I say go back to the bling bling rims I saw on your bike before ....I think it was your bike. If it was your bike they looked nice and would really standout on an all black bike.

Wish I could help you out with the clear signals but mine will be here next week (front and back) and I just can't give em up. tongue.gif

PS I am trying to give up my mod addiction so I can live vicariously through your bike right now I guess. lurk.gif

LOL... that'd be the ultimate stunter/squid paint job... (very cool)

When you blow by a cop you just pull a quick U-turn before he catches you and he sees a different bike/rider go by!

Boy, first he leaves the silver brotherhood....then I found out some other VFR rider gets the rims.

Yah, they went on the last 99 I sold. Mostly because I wanted two sets of wheels the same color and didn't want to pay for another set to be chromed! blink.gif
Powder Coated is the way I'm going as soon as I decide what color the bike will be and what wheels (color) will look best with it!

Maybe with a silver front fender it might look ok ?

I think if you incorporated some silver into the fariing ,say on the body line from the turn signal back into the tank. it would tie the two elements together. Thats my $.02
#35
I do like that better if you're going to do mixed colors. It seems to make more sense for me as the black is low and the silver is the uppper body work....silver front fender might be cool, would have to see it.

So far though, I like this the best of the mixes fing02.gif

Silver pipes maybe???

Maybe you can work the silver in the way I have done with my black here:

By the way, I am working on fabbing some titanium sleeves as a part of my 'roll my own exhaust' project, and I could use some guinea pig parts... biggrin.gif

Seriously Kevin, PM me if you're interested.

BR, what kind of cans were on your bike when it was red? Those look completely different from your franken-cans.

I am really liking the black all around. Should look very good when you are done!

I agree with SEBSPEED, the line under the headlights and just above the turn signals that flows onto the tank, paint above that line silver and below black, then follow the silver down the back side of the tank about 6 or 8 inches wide where it meets the seat, then carry the 2 tone across the seat cowl and tail section. The line on the tank could follow just below the honda sticker, then around the arc as the tank turns to the back side. This would give an almost panel style tank look. You could do a white pinstripe to break up the silver and black, or do a darker silver in between, to break up the line.
