Well because I owe this site all credit with info etc & there are just to many people to thank for help, I thought it would be fair to post some pics of my little projects as a thankyou beer.gif
This is pic of my track bike which is a 95 model VFR750, it has been fitted with complete VTEC front end & rear shock, plus rear hub mod to fit any VFR wheel I like (this model rotor bolts foul flat mounted wheels, the standard wheel on this model has slots cut away in wheel)
[image: user posted image]Now where did that VTEC front end & suspension come from:
[image: user posted image][image: user posted image]I have just about finished VTEC SP1 front end install & will post pic when complete, also any questions asked I'm happy to answer.
Next project is to find race glass to fit 750 & make new light weight sub frame idea3.gif
THANKS VFRD WITHOUT YOUR HELP, THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED.
The vfrD Frankencrew - singlehandedly skewerng the market for RC51 forks and SP-1 lower triples since 2003 laugh.gif
OK, so on the 750, what did you do about the VTEC left front caliper?
Did you make some sort of fixing bracket to eliminate the secondary master cylinder?

The extra link piston in left front caliper has been linked to system with very short line & 1 extra twin line bango bolt.
The secondary master cylinder has been filled with brake fluid & sealed off, this works very well & I don't notice any real movement from it at all. I have started to make simple lock collar that will sit between U mount & master cylinder so no real movement will happen at all. I just used block of alloy drilled hole to just fit snug around rubber boot & cut in 1/2. Then added a bolt either side to join back together like a clamp (will post pic when finished that part).
Brakes work a treat & are stopie quality, the suspension is so good & bike tracks so well that it has even suprized me.
Info:
From rough measurements I did the VTEC forks sit 10mm shorter unloaded hard on clip-ons with clips than standard 750 steering head to axle. The VTEC triple clamps have increased wheel base about 10mm from standard.
I shimed rear VTEC shock (VFR750 320mm, VTEC 317mm standard shock length) to max allowed before it hits dog bone unloaded (have about .5mm gap). This increases rear ride height about 10mm (VFR 1mm shim = about 3.3mm extra rear ride hight) & with VTEC forks already 10mm lower front I draped triple clamps a further 6mm just as a starting point.
First ride & I did a run though some very twisty & bumpy roads called Royal Nation Park Sydney here in AUS & I have never been as quick with so little effort, so to say it works is an under statement.
Hope that answers some questions smile.gif
Pic VTEC ever closer to finished, yes they are 929 Helibars & yes they are also Pazzo levers fing02.gif
[image: user posted image]Before anybody mentions it, that kink in master cylinder res feed line will be fixed when I shorten line k.

The 43mm forks and VTEC shock would be a welcome addition to the 750.
I've ridden a stock VTEC and was amazed at how much better the suspension felt than the stock bits on my '99.
But not any more, Muhahahahaha! goofy.gif

Silver wheel.JPG Can't wait to see the VTEC finished. fing02.gif
veefer800canuck believe me I have watched all yourself & every other person here's mods & read reports etc with delight. I luv to tinker & when I wanted info & some ideas this is where I found them.
I don't think there is a better bunch of VFR'S anywhere than the one's posted on this site including yours.
I also look all over for info & have been taping RC51 owners for info & from what they tell me droping fork oil weight to 5 (standard for RC51 is 7) & lowering air gap (standard RC51 is 130mm from top of fork leg to oil level) you can make them even more responsive without losing any dampening effect (ie using 5 weight oil & droping air gap to 110mm etc).

Dammit, I want those levers but I'm out of capital! I recommend a Vortex upper triple, looks the bullocks...

I would like one too (your underseat exhaust also looks the bullocks) but Frankenspouse is watching me so have to sneak in on later pissed.gif <that's her tongue.gif
Hey. your fork tube height in the riples is wrong; ask Rob to explain why. Something about the angle and offset of the triples increases actual trail, therefore a shortened front ride height makes up for it. I think they (fork caps) should be flush with the tops of the helibar clamps...

Yep that was fit up with forks set same unloaded length as VTEC, I'm now flush with clamps, have rear raised about 14mm, but still playing smile.gif
VTEC is just about finished, just some finishing touches needed idea3.gif
[image: user posted image][image: user posted image]Yes the center stand will go (it scrapes anyway) but you have to drop exhaust to do it on VTEC which is a job that makes me shity (if you have tried to fit a VTEC headers & then get lower bolt in place near cat, then you know why). I'm in process installing 98 headers so will remove then.
Gonna have to repaint that Pit Bull to match.
Yack, May 12 2006, 03:52 AMWow! The bike looks stunning. Job well done. Now go out and ride the thing.
That I did weekend past, nice weekend away with OZVFR crew & the smile is still on my face. The only thing I have to get used to is front brakes because now if touched in corner the bike wants to stand up (you shouldn't touch them in a corner I know but shit happens). I more or less guessed some settings for suspension & I'm not changing them there perfect for me. The bike is like a rock over 200kph & turns faster than before so very happy, bottom line it takes way less effort to ride quick & I like suspension plush but no bounce.
My settings
RC51 forks level top Helibars (this works out to be about 14mm lower than standard VTEC fork length unloaded)
Static sag set to 35mm
Fork oil race 7.5 weight 120mm air gap (standard is 8 with 130mm)
Standard RC51 springs
Rebound 5 clicks
Compression 13 clicks
Rear ride height is raised aprox 15mm from stock
Static sag rear 15mm

Exactly. I have been in communication with Wilbers USA already, and I like the service so far. I found a recently built web site saying they really want to expand their service network in the US. Whether or not that will happen is anyone's guess. It would be good to know if the shock can be serviced down the road, however.
They seem to have a great product, but all their competition's products look great, too. Of course, anything will be better than the stock unit. I plan on contacting them to see if they will give a discount if we get a few orders placed together.
zRoYz is the only member here that I know of with a Wilbers, so it would be good to see what he thinks.
I will have one by the middle of next week. fing02.gif I went with the hi/lo compression option but skipped the ride height and remote preload choices to save some $$$. Klaus at wilbersUSA worked with a group of us on another forum in a group buy. They didn't have to be the same bike/shock model, etc.
Getting the hi/lo was the biggest selling point as I've had both ohlins and penske's but w/o the hi/lo option. After I got use to the incredible increase in suspension performance from them, I realized that setting the compression for either hi or low speed wheel movement is ultimately a compromise.
Other benefits: 1st rebuild (if done within 18 months of purchase) is only $50!!!!! After that they're still only about $100. 5 year warranty. Cool retro' black spring (jk). Built and valved to your specs; other brands just add a correct spring to an off the shelf unit (retail stores). Because of the last benefit, turn around is about 3 weeks: order shocks from germany, shipped here, built to spec by Klaus, shipped to you.
I have a road trip at the end of the month so I will post more about it's actual performance then. See if it lives up to my hype! tongue.gif
