I have been out of the motorcycle business for about 10yrs, but this weekend I broke down and bought a Pear White 06 Interceptor w/ ABS. I owned a Pearl White 700F2 Interceptor back in the day. I have posted some pics, and more will come soon.
My first impression is wow... I mean talk about an amazing motorcyle. The only problem I have after right at 100 miles of riding is my butt hurts, and my hands are a little sore. I guesss it takes a little time to get used to the ergos of this bike.
A couple of question I have already are 1) should the bike have come with a manual and 2) since I seemed to have been shorted a manual (?), what are the break-in procedures.
I look forward to learning a lot from all of you, and I hope to add something to the discussion from time to time... wheel.gif
The dealer owes you an owner's manual. Heed the above break-in advice. Also let it warm to 153 degrees F before riding. Remember that new tires have to break in as well. Take the advanced MSF course.
I bought the factory shop manual from Helm Inc. for $60. Haynes just came out with a shop manual that I think is better than the factory manual. Got mine from J&P cycles for $36.
The white looks terrific! And the VFR is a great ride - good luck! I bought my bike last summer and it took a while to get used to the riding angle and my back burned a little for a while and I had to learn to hold my body off my hands or my wrists would hurt a little also. I have since taken to some physical conditioning (exercise) to strengthen my back by way of my abdominal muscles. Riding seems to be the best exercise, but anything to make your middle stronger and improve the grip your knees have on the tank will help. And the break in? I guess it's all about heat cycles and gradually going longer and harder rides. Opinion - Vary the speed often. Stop and let the bike cool and do it all again. The worst situation during the break in... getting stuck in stop and go traffic for a long period of time ( on a hot day ) and full throttle acceleration or very high rpm's. Keep an eye on the ENGINE TEMP readout!

All new VFR's come with a owners manual, a ride safe manual, a tool kit with 2 spanner wrenches and a extension handle included, a rear seat cowl, a pair of cover plates for the holes where the grab handles go and a pair of grab handles. All of these things come with the bike as standard equipment at no extra cost. There a lot of people that do not receive all this stuff at time of delivery and sometimes the dealers try to make you purchase them separately, don't fall for that. Insist that they supply you with all of this stuff. Enjoy!
Thanks for all the info and compliments! I am in Jacksonville (NE) Florida. I am going to call the dealership Tuesday and make them send me my free stuff. At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, this stuff isn't in hiding is it? It should be visible after removing the seat? I haven't even come close to redline, but I have racked up 300 miles in the last day and a half. Took a ride with some friends down to Ocala today. We left out at 9am and got back around 5pm. ohmy.gif To say the very least my wrists are a little sore, but it is getting better.
Hey, Aurelius, are you the guy I met at the beach about 2 weeks ago, who had some workers knock your BRAND NEW bike over and you got new parts AND got to keep your very slightly scratched tank....and you have green glowlights inside your fairings....and who I told about this Forum? You gotta be...how many new white VFRs can there be in Jacksonville? Wellllll, I guess there can be two of 'em. Recently, I was shocked to see a Y2K bike parked in my normal motorcycle only parking spot at a tiki bar...talk about surprising....I thought somebody had leaned a mirror against the signpost there!! goofy.gif

Welcome & good choice! If I had had a choice, I might have gotten a white one! Almost traded my Red '04...then I found a red '90.... Ah well, I got a White Goldwing...LOL

Yeah, I had a 2 minute moped ride to my office when I worked for Alexandria, VA. Here in Florida, I have a one mile ride from my house to my office, both are in PV, all on A1A.

Yep. Especially the seat cowl and grab handle cover plates. Make sure you get all that stuff and don't let them jerk you around. It is shipped in the crate and they know it.

Thanks man. I am a pseudo amateur photographer (canon 20D). I was thinking the same thing about the nose when I looked at that picture for the first time. It doesn't stand out so much in person...

To walk inside Trace's garage you must take off all clothing and be pressure washed with very hot water. Then wear a bio-chemical suit to avoid contaminating the garage floor...also gloves, he doesn't want any fingerprints inside. goofy.gif
