I noticed there were alot of them too.. Didnt they think all 10 harleys would get around that van thing at that corner??

He obviously saw the corner, realized he didn't quite know how to do those yet and locked up the rear brake. I do think that the second guy just narrowly missed the ravine though. I think I saw him on the side...

But seriously, I would have stopped in the middle of the road and ran down there to help the guy. I guess the whole "badass biker" image isn't so endearing to strangers: "dude, they are going to beat our asses"??? WTF??

In all reality, it wasn't the Harley that couldn't make the turn, it was the panicky rider. Wonder if he ever rides again? I hope he was okay, it looked like quite a dropoff, and with 900lbs on top...

The driver of the van sums it up nicely: "F@#$ing Idiot".

I hope that the riders, physically, are OK.

But, their hardware? Hope they think twice before pulling a move like that again....double solid yellow, etc... blind curve, blah blah blah

all he had to do was steer the bike and he would've made it easily. maybe riding instructions should've come with his bike?!?!

Clearly the bike could make the turn rather easily, as was pointed out. The second rider had it made, but followed the first onto the shoulder.
Good thing he didn't try to use the front brake, he would have flown over the bars! goofy.gif Or maybe made the turn safely... tongue.gif

Hoping the rider is okay, that was idototic! He had plenty of room to make that turn, maybe scrape the boards but he was proably looking right where he went! It's always the basics, head and eyes-look where you want to go!

LOL .. the rider was surprised by the quick left hander coming up .. he thought he could keep going right and was carrying too much speed for himself even though he didn't look like he was going fast at all.

Compare that to the other recently posted video with the greek road burners with slipper clutches and threshold braking all the way through the turns.

That was HIlarious! Maybe those 2 should have been riding Ulysess instead of the big pigs could have ridden right out the ditch!

When the Hardly Ableson rider tells the story to anyone that wasn't there, things will be a bit different. He passes the van doing 100mph and out of nowhere he sees a truck hauling a double wide trailer spanning both lanes, so he "had to lay her down". Of course it will be his quick thinking and superior riding skills that saves his life. rolleyes.gif

The stupid idgit was going too slow to hurt himself when he dissappeared, so I hope there was poison ivy in that little rabbit hole! goofy.gif

Man I hope he was alright, that looked deep and thats a heavy bike. Perfect reason not to ever panic brake in a corner. He could have made it otherwise.



At the end of that, I cant help but laugh, all those Harley's trying to stop and pull off the road looks like a bunch of meandering cattle that have been drinking. They are all wobly and awkward looking and look like they might fall over at any moment! biggrin.gif

I too could watch that all day. Shows you what actually knowing how to ride will do for you. Why in your right mind would you think that it is ok to pass a vehicle in a blind corner while you are leading 10 other guys? The van must have been going really slow for even the hardley riders to want to pass them.

I saw a VW icon on the steering wheel Obviousy not a commercial vehicle. My question is, didn't this guy in the VW notice 10 or so bikers riding his rear? Is it so important for him to have his 20 mph video that he couldn't wave the guys on and slowed down?

They were so quickly to call the rider an F'ing idiot but we have all been there, haven't we?

I know that there is no law which says that you should pull over when there are 10 bikes behind you but, come on, let's be honest, a little couresy goes a long way.

In my opinion, the oblivious driver in the VW is the moron. The guy on the Harley was doing what any of us would have done exept that he went beyond his ability and, let's keep being honest, most of us have done that, too. smile.gif

That's how the Dragon can catch you, they could see the left coming up, but didn't realize they was another hard right first ! He could have just leaned it enough to the right to make the turn, but fixated on what he wanted to miss, the ditch. Hope he's ok! I was impressed that the second guy didn't follow him in and saved it! fing02.gif

That wasn't the Hells Angels! Cuase they (Outlaw bikers) can actually ride motorcycles! But most likely a bunch of over enthused Dentists or Badass Wannabe's who managed to have 20K for an HD!

I hope they guy is OK, but the girls reaction was the most honest "Why would they do that".

In certain browsers that won't work either. What I did was I copied the link from teh first post in this thread, launched WMP and copied the URL into the OPEN URL dialogue box.

I tried that, wmp wont open it. Neither will my divx player =(

It did the same thing to me. Right click, save target as, and you should be able to open it.

Sorry, but I'm not going to put one single ounce of blame on the VW. The speed limit on the Dragon is 30mph and we know from watching all the videos that Miguel and other post that onboard video makes everything look slower than it really is. The VW folks had every right in the world to be where they were and to go the speed they were going. The only places to pull off are on the left side of the road in that particular area. This is one time I'm going to defend the cagers because they did nothing wrong. Oh, and one other thing...we don't know if those bikers had been following for 10 seconds or 10 minutes. The only ones proven to be morons in this video are the two HD riders that decided to plow the poison ivy garden.

HD has made a fortune on the Hell's Angels look on TV and in movies, selling bikes and merchandise to people who want to look tough, act tough, etc. Even if those guys were all dentists and lawyers, they try to look the part. Most of us know of instances where HD riders have kicked over Japanese bikes after their obligatory nights of drinking, flipped off sportbike riders, etc. It's very easy to see why some people would be scared of a group of HD riders dressed in leather, spiked or studded gloves and vests, etc. and reputation of spending time at bars drinking, which causes some people to behave more violently. Once again, the only morons are the two that decided it's better to look like a bad ass biker, than to actually have the skills to be a biker.
