Okay I have finally decided with all ya'lls help to go with the Michellin Pilot Powers...My Local shop wants $3 Bills for the set. Thats a on the high end, but tolerable price. HOWEVER...them dirty rotten (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/pissed.gif) Want $80 PER TIRE to take them off while doing service maintenance to mount & balance each tire. So these $300 tires are now costing me $460. Is it just me or am i getting bend over? (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/sad.gif)

Huge rip off. Go to an independent shop, many charge $20-$40 per wheel for mount and balance. Call around to the independent shops and ask them these questions: How much for mount balance on VFR (single sided swingarm makes it easier) if you buy the their tires? How much for mount balance on VFR if you bring in tires? Do they have the required balancing equipment for a VFR rear wheel? (large cone for a static balancer) How much for a set of Powers? Compare their prices with ordering a set online
SWmoto tire is about $230 a set delivered to your door. Maybe you should order online and take the bike to another dealer with reasonable mounting rates cause the place you mentioned is selling the tires at list as well as overcharging for mounting.
Go somwhere else and never use that shop again if your smart! That is a ripoff no doubt! If thats the only place, buy a tire changer and do it yourself, at those prices it will pay for itself in one tire change! Harbor Frieght tools has a very afforbable tire changer, you can make a balancer rather cheap!
I change my own tires out of nessisity, use http://www.swmototires.com/ for my tires, cheap and reliable place for the most part!
I got my Pilot Powers through a friend that owns a custom bike shop at his cost -- $218 for the set. I took the wheels off the bike myself and brought them to a local Ducati dealer who mounted and balanced the new tires front and rear for $36 each. Total cost: $290.00 plus about 2 hours of my own time.
I just picked up a Power rear from my local guy for $118 and will install it myself on Friday afternoon in about 15 minutes for the cost of a couple of stick on weights.

I just went "dutch" on a Harbor Freight mounter and Parnes balancer with a good friend of mine. We won't get reamed by a dealer again.

A HF tire changer is one sale for about $80 and a Marc Parnes wheel balancer is $130

i know that shop rate is insane..... I will be buying from SWMoto...i just dont have to ability to change out tires myself. It (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/pissed.gif) me off cause i try to be loyal to my local shop or one shop for that matter, owning my own retail business i understand loyal cutomers and try to be one. But $80 each is retarded

That's a big (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/+1.gif) for Miguel's comments. The cheapest I could get a rear Z-6 a couple of years ago was $275 and that was with me taking the wheel off the bike myself. Other places were higher. After reading Miguel's tire changing thread, I bought a Harbor Freight changing station and ordered from Southwest Moto. I've done it that way ever since.

I BUY MY TIRES AT CYCLE GEAR! last time i bought two sets (on the shelf) and they charged $15 to mount and balance each. currently running $275 set. two stores in wa. one in tacoma maybe not too far? this is a carry in, carry out your rims. check pricing and locations at WWW.CYCLEGEAR.COM

for those who don't want to shell out the dough for a harbor frieght tire changer, or have the room to mount it to a floor or store it. Using a 15" car rim and regular tire irons is a cheap and easy way to do it. I have no trouble at all and have about 25$ invested.

If your talking about Hinshaws Honda in Aub, WA....those (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/pissed.gif) couldn't fix anything if there lives depended on it. Before my Viffer I owned a Dual Sport that was layed down and started running rough. So i took it to them and they charged me $300 to ripp the motor out and go thru it completely not to mention re build the carb. It ran 4 times worse when i got it back and i told them that this work was not acceptable and they need to fix it. They proceeded on tell me what there shop rates are and ask what is it i wanted them to do then......I flipped out (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/pissed.gif) , Long story short...after 10 minutes of the service department getting mouthy and wanting to charge me to do more work, i am no longer allowed on the premise and was escourted off the premise via the Heat (Mr. Police man). I only started getting vocal with them when they started with me first. I wouldn't go there again even if paid too. There are NO good quality, fair priced shops in the area anymore. They are all run by a bunch of highschool punks who would rather stand around and talk about how much @$$ there girlfriends didnt give them then actually get an education and work on bike with care. ya'see my problem is i dont have the space or the stand to take off the wheels and bring them in. Not to mention the knowledge to deal with the one sided swing arm
