I just ordered a Signal Dynamics single LED voltage monitor for 12v. moto systems that mounts in a 1/4" hole anywhere and tells you if you are low-normal-high on charging. This would of course be a big save if it alerted you to the R/R failure and kept you from frying the bike harness, battery. etc., and getting stranded. They are only 26.95 and are a two wire hookup with an 18" remote lead to the LED to allow location virtually anywhere. I'm digging into my dash for repairs anywho, so I'm puttting mine up by the clock on my 1997. I found the info on Signal Dynamics site, but their cart system had errors, so I ordered from CruiserCustomizing.com
