Leather wont be as durable as the newer materials they use, some of the new carbon fiber like materials are more supple and handle sunlight and rain better than leather. Plus are tactile enough so your not sliding around too much - note: dont armorall your seat to make it shiny, you will regret it! Just clean it with soap and water!

nope they have synthtic also.its on there material page.i found a custom maker that is about the same price.think thats the way im gonna go.

I sent my seat back 2 weeks ago to have it recovered for warranty work because of leather wear. So, I went into the Corbin store in Daytona and talked to the guy and they are going to recover the seat with a different material this time, getting the Carbon Fiber seat this time, suppose to be a lot lot lot less slipperier. So, I will have it back in a week if you want to hold up and I can take a pic of it. Mines all black and I had the center piping removed also and 1/4 inch shaved. I'll shoot a pic when I get it back and post it up.

I went with the carbon leather with a black welt, matching backrest with carbon fiber trim plate. I have used Meguiar's aloe leather cleaner and conditioner on the seat and backrest. As stated earlier, the new material are very forgiving to the elements and do not require regular maintance. My bike is always garaged and I carry the Corbin weather cover when on long trips. It has gotten caught in the rain a couple of times though, I will then clean and condition the seat afterward. The Corbin stays on all of the time unless I am trailering the bike, and since I have a open trailer I will put the OEM seat on and put the Corbin into the vehicle. I just like the look and the feel of the leather, I also chose Corbin because of the backrest(wife). There have been many concerns voiced about Corbin's poor customer service, I have not encountered this though.

I went with the carbon fiber look leather, which is actualy leather with an embossed nylon bonded to it, on the seating surfaces, and the carbon fiber look vinyl on the sides with red piping. I also use Meguiar's leather cleaner/conditioner and have experienced no fading or deterioration, although my bike lives in the garage and doesn't get left in the rain.

I believe Corbin pretty much started the aftermarket seat business, and he recomends leather seating surface with vinyl sides. The reasoning is covered here: Corbin FAQ

Corbins customer service has gotten remarkably better over the past year or so. I've heard many stories from back in the days, which kinda gave them a bad rap, but I know of 2 people plus myself that have had warranty problems that have been fixed promply with little hassle. Two by phone, and mine direct in the store.

I ended up with plain leather and red welt

I had a black carbon look seat on my ZRX. It was all black. Made it alot easier to sell when I got rid of the ZRX. Not restricted by color. Just my two cents.

As far as conditioing the seat I used the car leather conditioner. It has UVA and UVB inhibitors that helped protect the seat and wasn't slippery.
