Purchased The 2002 Vfr800 Non Abs

Bought the 2002 non abs VFR with 1500 miles. I am going to put the bike back to stock and sell the extras first then sell a stock bike Can you give me an idea what the following items are worth/

Remus Carbon Exhaust slip ons with midmipe
Double Bubble windshield
Carbon Fiber Fender hugger
Fender Eliminator

Also do you think I will have any trouble getting 5995.00 Buy it now on Ebay for
a red perfect 02 with 1500 miles?

Of course, Blue Book and NADA are going to return much lower resale valves, but those books assume a 2002 model already has a good amount of mileage on it. Realistically, I think you can get at least $5000 for the bike today, but if you want $6000 you need to wait until Spring comes along. Good luck with the sale.

EDIT AGAIN: And another thing, with the exception of the Remus cans, you might be better off selling the bike with the windscreen, hugger, and eliminator on it. Yep, I will consider that. NADA Average Retail is 5885, but again this bike has exceptionly low miles. $5750 is my bottom for stock bike. Should bring that. Here in Mississippi it is spring

Not sure about the pipes, but nearly new DB windshields usually sell for about $50 here on VFRD from other members. The hugger is probably worth more, depending on fit and finish - and the condition it's in, which is probably very good considering how few miles are on that bike. Fender elim. is low. They don't usually cost that much to start with, so $15-$20 is probably about right.

Let us know when you're ready to sell those items. They'll probably go quickly here.

As for the bike, I think you're aiming a little high on the price, but you might get it. Just depends on who's looking to buy one when you list it. I always say ask for more than you want and settle for what you're willing to take, if necessary.

onesaintsfan, Feb 20 2007, 11:37 AMAlright guys new hear and just need some quick information because I have no time. I have a shot at a 2002 Honda VFR800 with only 1415 miles on it. It has a carbon Remus exhaust and Puig windshield. One owner with all stock items still available. Wholesale book is $4230 and Retail is $4830. While I will be paying retail $4800, the bike does have the expensive exhaust and low miles. This bike is flawless new clean. I should know this since I take about 5 motorcycle mags but prefer to hear it from actual owners.

#1 were there any service issues with the V-TEC? Mainly did honda have any recalls or widespread problems with this bike?
#2 were there any heat issues from the side radiators?

If I buy this bike and don't like it how bad will I be hurt being into the bike for about $5100. Is there a strong resale market for the bike . Thanks John

To be honest, I'll be surprised if you get all that much over $5k.

I just bought a Red 02' stock with all service records, new tires, and was toothbrush clean. I paid $5500 for it which I think was too high, but it was within driving distance and I was getting tired of looking. In the paper work he gave me I found what he paid the original owner for it when he bought it in late 04' with only 1500 miles on it. ($5,500) Knowing that now I really think I paid too much. High retail book value on the bike is $5800 - $6,000 depending on which book you are looking at, but know that is for a dealer and takes in consideration their overhead and any advertising they had to do to sell the bike. Bottom line, I think if you can get between $5100 and $5500 take it and be happy.

DO NOT feel bad, artman! You got a great bike in terrific condition that, most importantly, you love. I paid a couple hundred more than I wanted to for my used '04 last summer, but it was worth every penny. Plus, think of it this way: If you keep and ride that bike for even a couple years, the extra few hundred or so you paid for it is really just an extra $10-$20 a month over that time period. Now, do you really still feel like you overpaid? Wasn't it worth going ahead and buying that dreambike? It certainly was for me.

Think how much more you would have paid for shipping, or the uncertainty you would have faced, if you had bought one on eBay or whatever, even if the sale price was cheaper!

Yeah... I agree. This all seems too far in one direction, and it has nothing to do with a great bike. I mean, I believe in making money just like anyone else, but to just "whore" out a bike and trying to get info on how to do it using this forum kind of rubs me against the grain on my unshaven cheek....

I kind of see your point, but nobody loves all motorcycles like I do. I just came across this bike and had to pull the trigger quick. I came to this forum to do my research since I did not have time to go back through my motorcycle mag archives. I ride a 2004 BMW R1150GS and am going to soon buy an FJR1300. This will complete my stable. I keep looking for the 1 perfect bike but it does not exist. Since I have started riding in 1989, I have owned at last count 25 different bikes. Sold most because I over extended myselft . I have spent those years searching for the holy grail. The one motorcycle that will do it all. But kids and bills have kept me from being able to hold onto the 3 bike ideal stable. I have always liked VFR's but am a Kawasaki man at heart. About a year ago I had a 2002 BMW K1200LT, Kawasaki KLR650, and a Kawasaki ZX12. If I could have swapped the KLR for the GS things would have been perfect. I just don't have time and funds to own my 3 dream machines. So I have a maxed out GS that does everything well. The FJR will simply fill the ocasional need for sustained high speed comfort point a-b bike with or without passenger. The GS handles everything else. If I can ever own the third bike it will be a sport bike, the VFR is on the short list. Believe it or not this is the first and only bike out of the 25 I have bought to make a profit. Mainly because the deal just fell in my lap.

I am sorry if you guys have felt used, it was not meant to be like that. This was just where I could get all my questions answered quickly and easily.

I will say this, for no more money than I have wrapped up in the bike and the drop dead good looks and personlity of the machine I could see keeping it. It just is in the way of getting to my utopia of the FJR & GS

Thanks for the cheering up. I agree with all you said. Just the peice of mind being able to see it and pick it up was worth a few extra bucks as you mentioned. I've been out on it now three times and put about 250 miles on it this week. What a blast this thing is. I looking foward to keeping it a long time. (IMG:style_emoticons/oldemoticons/fing02.gif)
