Hi all! I'm slowly beginning to make my way through the list of mods. And, I promised to keep everyone posted, with pics of course!

I installed The Helmet Guardian yesterday and it installed quickly and easily. (The Helmet Guardian came with everything I needed to install, minus one 11mm wrench.) I think it looks great! (And, it really shows how dirty my bike is! unsure.gif ) For those unfamiliar, it's a bracket that secures to your license plate bracket and provides two helmet locks. Some might think it's bulky or ugly, but I don't think it's that bad. Sometimes, it's just a matter of function over form. As we all know, the Honda OEM underseat helmet locks suck. I wanted something more accessible and this was the solution I leaned toward.

Here are some pics....

You can see there is about a ¾" gap between the helmet lock and the factory hardbag. The bracket for the hardbag sits further back behind the helmet lock, even though it looks like they are right next together in this pic:

Here's the orientation from the side of the OEM luggage bracket and the Helmet Guardian. The red arrow is pointing to the tab that stuck out from the luggage bracket. I don't know what it's original "job" was, but they lined up perfectly and it seems to provide a nice little support for the helmet lock!

Thanks, Hobie! It sure is making a huge difference in my life! My step-kids ride with my hubby and I alot and it's really nice to have a quick accessible helmet lock. biggrin.gif

That is cool. I may have to get one of those.
The softbags I have make it a pita to get to the helmet lock, too. I used to just leave my helmet unlocked, hanging on the peg. That was my old helmet though, and it was a piece of crap. I even scraped off the SHOEI so thieves wouldn't be tempted to take it! goofy.gif

"Function over form", you said it, man. Who needs fender eliminators?! PSHEH!

It looks good. So much so that we now are in the process of ordering two for us! Thanks for helping us spend more money on the bikes!!

Nice writeup!

The little mystery tab on your rack is for a reflector. The euro racks(DSS purchase) don't have that tab on them.
