I am in Salt lake from Seattle with low voltage reading on radar detector one volt lower then normal and the 30 amp fuse by the battery is discolored from heat, not melted. Bike still starts. Any suggestions?
jeremy556, May 28 2007, 04:17 PMYou can replace the 30 amp fuse and wire with parts from auto parts store in about a half hour, see the electrical problems info post.
What voltage are you getting?
I am getting 11v. I am not sure of the accuracy. The radar detector is hooked up to the tail light and I think there is a voltage drop there. It is now 1-2 volts less than it has been before today. The connectors look usable. I cleaned the connection up and the connection is not getting hot. The voltage is still the same 11v. If the connection is good now should I be getting higher voltage or do I have to recharge the battery?
Your battery should be giving you 12-12.8 volts with the bike off, with the bike on you should be getting 13.3-14.8 volts.
See if you can borrow a volt meter and connect it to your batter terminals. Should be over 13 volts at 5500RPM with the brights on and engine warmed up.
