I know, I know... you guys are sick and tired of seeing me powder coat stuff, but I can't help it. I need powder-coating rehab or something. I got the can covers and end caps today, so I had to put them on. The heat shield for the up pipe is in progress along with the passenger pegs (I have spares of both and sent them off a couple of days ago.)
You're thinking:
"house, we've seen this before" - Yeah, but not on a red 07!!!
"could you not wait till all the parts came in?" - no, I have modding sickness
"can't you come up with a new mod?" - working on that, but have to get this bike to where my 06 was (before it was flattened)
"where's the supercharger, like toro?" - way over my head... he's a hero of mine fing02.gif
"don't you have anything better to do?" - now that kwr8728 is at school, nobody else will trash their bike so I can work on it... so this will have to do
Anyway... here are the pics
[image: black1.jpg][image: black2.jpg][image: black3.jpg]Perhaps this is a cry for help.... naahhhh!

I dig it! I never liked the brightwork under the seat.

Lookin' good! Now get to work on those other silver bits! cool.gif
I've got to agree with the rest of the guy's, It looks great. I don't believe anyone is thinking you have gone over the edge. The black tones it down a bit and helps our eyes to keep being distracted from all the shiney chrome stuff.
Looking Good!

Hey Will, not for nothing, but I could keep you busy for a least a month... ever been to NY?? goofy.gif
Bike looks good, but you should go full Monty and do the frame, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Hmmm. Almost needs black rims.............................. unsure.gif LOL.

Already in progress... Bob is hard at work on the other parts.
Hey Will, not for nothing, but I could keep you busy for a least a month... ever been to NY??
I've been following your various mishaps for some time now.... and would love to help out!!! However distance, work, and family will probably be three obstacles that keep that from happening. Still, if there is anything I can do to help, let me know!
Hmmm. Almost needs black rims..............................
Just sent JoeW a message (now that he's back in business!) fing02.gif

You're right... you almost never get finished. But to some degree, I gotta make it my own. smile.gif My debt is almost gone (including this bike) so I get to play - as long as the wife gets to shop wink.gif I created that mess myself
Hwy 108 is the road
Take hwy 20 towards catersville. 108 is a few miles past Knox Bridge (etowah river/lake allatoona) on the right. It goes for 9 miles to Waleska. The road is just past a volunteer fire station that is also on the right.
FYI that road continues over to 515 just north of where 575 ends. It is the first traffic light you come to on 515 going north.
There are plenty of fun roads up in that area. They make great afternoon rides after work, or with your girls if they ever feel up to riding!
Map of rideIt is in reverse of the way we rode it. But it has 108, 140, and salacoa rd (that was the small two lane road through the valley)

Awesome!!! Thanks bro smile.gif You wouldn't already have that in a Garmin file would you wink.gif If not, no big deal, I can plot it... just thought I would ask.

Umm, no, but i can, along with all the other routes i used to take up there. Another one you can do after you get comfortable there is the Burnt/Fort mtn loop. I have done it in a weekday summer afternoon too. I'll see about getting them to ya!
Looks great fing02.gif
Your post was hilarious too goofy.gif
Two other thoughts for you......black out the radiators, and black out the lower headers. I've done this to my '03 and definitely made a difference.
Great job with your mods
Nothing, absolutely nothing can keep WW, er..."House" down.
Keep it up, and keep posting your mods..... fing02.gif
Thanks for the kind words smile.gif
Hi, my name is house (wirelesswill) and I have not done a mod in 1 week... scratch that, I did two tonight dry.gif I got my passenger pegs and uppipe shield done in powder coat, so I had to mount them. They had been sitting for almost 24 hours, a new record for me!!! I also put my Scorpion alarm on the new bike. Funny, but the perimeter senson seems to be more sensitive on this bike. Also, for the first time, I compared the color of my new truck with the color on the new bike... they are really close (especially in the right ligh) but do not match exactly. Oh well, it will look good enough when I am towing it to Fall meet!!!
And yes, here are more pics (you knew that was coming.) I gotta run... the mod-aholics meeting starts soon.
[image: red1.jpg][image: red2.jpg][image: red3.jpg][image: red4.jpg][image: red5.jpg] Looks great Will! At first I wasn't digging it until you posted the pics with the rear pegs done. I think that's the best looking red 07 I've seen. Can't wait to see the wheels, etc. done. Keep it up!
Red house, Red VFR, Red Truck, Red Lawn Mower. Is your wife a red head too?
LOL, no (although I have always had a soft spot for redheads.) The house and the mower just worked out that way. I tried to match the truck to the bike, though wink.gif
Don't forget the radiators! beer.gif
house:
What kind of grip is that on your tank for your knees?
Also, what's the seat sack?
Still got non-black wheels? Wanna trade?

The tank grips are from
tech-spec and I love them. I highly reccomend the snakeskin... it wears better and is much thicker.
The tail pack is an EXL from
motodirectusa.com, but they have been out of stock forever. I email them every 3 months asking when they will get more. They always say 4 to 6 weeks, but it's been almost a year and still nothing. Nevertheless, if you can get one, they are awesome and great for commuting to work as they have built in backpack straps and the pack zips off the base. They have a small model with the link above, but I haven't tried it cause my laptop won't fit.
Tightwad, Aug 5 2007, 01:37 AMStill got non-black wheels? Wanna trade?
Normally, I would say yes, but I don't want the shiny black... I want the powder black on the 07 tri-color... so I will probably buy a set and have my stockers powdercoated to match. Thanks for the offer, though.
Step 1.....
[image: ikea-dick-in-the-box-1.gif]Sorry to hijack this thread, just couldn't resist.
By the way, I REALLY like that color!
Nice mods, but your lawn mower needs black wheels goofy.gif
You're all nuts goofy.gif I agree that the black cans need some other black components so they don't get lonely. It would look sweet with black rims and frame - sorta goofy looking as it is. Guess this makes me nuts too!
Looks good buddy....very sharp!
Added more black this weekend.... check out the footpegs! I also powdercoated the heatshield on the right. Also, I just bought a swingarm and swingarm mount to get powdercoated black (for those of you who thought I would never do it.) That will leave the radiators, forks, and frame. All but the forks are planned to be blacked out. I really like the footpegs... subtle as they are. The swingarm was easy to find, the mount was not... and I don't even want to know how much fun it will be to change the mount and swingarm. Isn't the engine mounted to the swingarm mount? will it fall out when I take it off wink.gif
[image: nb2.jpg][image: nb3.jpg][image: nb4.jpg][image: nb5.jpg]Oh, yeah... my daughter FINALLY fits in a jacket... so I picked up a jacket and helmet for her this weekend. Tomorrow we start "Dad's safety class" for her. Maybe if she understands the ramifications of being on a bike, we can go for a ride around the backroads at super low speed this weekend. Check out her pink gear smile.gif
[image: nb1.jpg] Man i love that bike.....Better than the italian red in my eyes...I can only say this because the Lady in Red is down in the parking garage and can't hear.
What size jacket do they offer? I would love to get my kids riding more as well, but they are young (all <10 years old)

Her helmet is a medium... the jacket is an extra small. She is 7.5 years old... which I think is a bit young. So I plan to take her on the super back country GA roads at no more than 35-40 MPH. I figure you gotta start somewhere. She is SOOO excited smile.gif

Awesome, sounds like its shopping time! So far I have only been able to give them rides in the neighbor hood...using Denim jacket and bike helmets. I am sure my wife will be thrilled! (yeah, who am I kidding).
OK, so I stripped all the junk off the extra swingarm and mount that I bought... 1.5 hours of work! I was gonna do more, but it was PERFECT day in GA today. My daughter called and needed more clothes at her grandmothers... so that was the perfect excuse for me to practice weaving in and out of traffic all the way down to Mableton (from Canton.) Once I finished that task, I saw bikes EVERYWHERE, so I just HAD to hit the mountains for awhile smile.gif I even saw a red 4th Gen on Hwy 20 near my house in Canton. (who was that?) Anyway, I am just about ready to send all this stuff off to the powder coater, which will seriously up the black level on this bike. It's gonna be fun to rip a swingarm and mount off... that's why I bought extras. Anyone got any pointers? Will the engine fall out when I pull the swingarm mount? What do you guys use to strip the wheels? I was gonna strip the wheels and swingarm... but now I think it's easier to pay someone to deal with it.
Wera, did Butch decide on a color? If so, as soon as my rear PitBull mount for the VFR gets here (should be later this week,) I am ready to powder coat a bunch of stuff.
I was gonna mount my sliders and heated grips and powerlet today... but it was too nice to be working on a bike, much better to ride!
How about some daylight photos? idea3.gif
Good luck on the swingarm. I'm anxious to see how it turns out even though I'm probably not up to going that far on mine. As far as the stripping goes I would just have it blasted and save you a LOT of work.
