Speeding Ticket In A National Park

My brother rides an old Yamaha Crusier. Over the weekend he got a speeding ticket in a national park. Zion to be exact in UTAH. The debate at this point is if the "performance award" will show up on his insurance for Arizona. He's about ready to sell the old bike anyway, it would be a shame for this to push him over the edge.

Is his ticket going to get reported to Arizona State and to the insurance companies?

Anyone have any experience here?

I don't believe Federal Tickets have any impact or points on licenses.

Yes. It will be reported to the State through their "Central Violations Bureau" located in San Antonio. If you don't believe it, just plead guilty, pay the fine, and watch.

My understanding of these tickets, however, is that they do not accumulate DMV points. could be just a rumor and I have no idea about any other influence, but there you have it.

Not sure why I don't just erase this post, totally useless...

Insurance companys don't care about DMV points only your DMV record.

I got a ticket in Arizona a few years back, paid it and it never showed up on my New Mexico driving record. It was from an Arizona State police officer.

I was told if I did not pay the ticket, it would've shown up as a failure to appear warrant in NM.

I think it's highly unlikely it'll show up in Arizona if he just pays it.

I received a "performance award" on the SkyLine drive in VA. It was a federal park and it never went on my DMV record and my insurance company never got word of it. I would say just pay it and pretend like it never happened.

I grew up close to Zion. The rangers are not very nice concerning traffic laws. I'm amazed he found somewhere to speed, though. This time of year the place is packed with 20mph tourists.

You never know what can happen with records. I had a twenty over ticket from UHP that never made it onto my record.

what ever state his licence is in , the points and info will go there

I once received a speeding ticket in Big Bend N.P., while attending a HSTA event there ('99), but have no idea if it found its way on to my driving record. Didn't really care, as I don't get ticketed (stopped, yes) very often. I think it cost me $45-50.

The first time I was there, I had the place to myself and the rangers just waved as I flew by. Timing is everything.

Do the crime, pay the fine.

You also have a better chance of "fighting" federal tickets if you can show up. They'll usually get thrown out before you even enter the courtroom.

Hearsay I know, but a friend got a ticket in Yosemite a couple years ago. Never showed up on his record in CA. FWIW. :unsure:

lol... that crap doesnt fly in Vegas when you get busted for speeding at Lake Mead. The federal judge just gets pissed at you for insinuating that his Rangers were lying about you speeding and slaps you with the maximum.

But the tickets dont show up on your record.

I think the idea is that the Ranger doesn't show, and thus the proper process of law is not being followed (being able to face your accuser).
