Hey all, want to say thanks to the board for all the info I collected from here and a few pics to show what I did with it. I always wanted a VFR with a single-sided swingarm, but ended up with a CBR1100XX Blackbird. So, I did the next best thing and combined them. Took a '92 swingarm and grafted it onto my '03 Blackbird. Enjoy the pics and again, thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the compliments,, the stock CBR1100XX chain is a 110 link and I put a 112 link on it with the new swingarm and a 113 would have been better. I almost couldn't get the 112 chain on it. So best guess is wheelbase is about an inch and a half longer or so. The bike is an '03 model and the black color has some metal-flake in it that doesn't photo well. The Blackbirds only came in one color a year here in the U.S. I put the brakeline inside the swingarm after reading about that mod here; it turned out good. I need to get a new rear rotor cause the one that came with the swingarm is just about worn out, so if anyone has one that's good for sale ,let me know via PM. I have alot of the build pics if anyone is interested. Just post what you want to see and I'll see if I have the pic. I tried to document along the way. Thanks again for the help and if your in Houston, let's ride,,,

I would love to see some pics of the install. What was involved in getting the swingarm installed? Was it a simple bolt on with the same bushings etc.?
hawglet, May 27 2008, 10:29 PMlet's see some pics of those brake lines installed inside of the SSSA. I must have missed the orginal post regarding that mod. Seems cool though.
Check the "Featured Modificatons" forum, post is called "The lines are now running through the swingarm".
The bike handles nice, no complaints. The wheel base is approx. 1.5 inches longer, so it's slower turning but more stable at speed. The swingarm fit with a spacer I built that's approx. 5.5mm wide. The linkage was the most time consumming part of the build. My mill is a small, import one and manual. After that, it was pretty much bolt together. The brakes were already de-linked before the build, so I just had to get a new back brakeline. I would have never thought to put the brakeline in the swingarm without the ideal already being here and done before. It was easier than I thought it would be. Nothing like drilling a hole in a perfectly good swingarm,eh! I added some more pics of some details,,, and as for the V4, I already have one bike with a V4. Although I think Honda messed up and stuck it in the frame wrong. HAHA,,,
Sebspeed, the rubber grommets came from O'reilys, an autoparts store here in Texas (around Houston at least). They were for running wires thru the dashboard into the engine compartment. They have a section for doodads like that. If you need some let me know and I'll get you some. I drilled 1/2" holes and they're made to fit a 1/2" hole. PM me or post it here,,, couldn't fabricate without my mill and lathe. Although they let me get into trouble sometimes. Next year is a Tig or mig welder maybe and then the trouble really starts,,,hahahaha
