Paper Air Filter Options?

I'm the guy who believes paper air filters are STill the way to go for the long haul.

Are there any aftermarket (less expensive) OEM type air filters available for the 6th Gen VFR (VTEC).

I have searched and read all the threads I could find on air filters & did not find any mention of aftermarket paper filters available.

If not, anyone have the OEM part #?

I was hoping to find a paper filter at a better price than the OEM filter.  Maybe Fram makes one of the same quality as OEM.  I have not found a cross reference.

I do not want to argue about the merits of wet foam filters.  I simply do not believe K&N/UNI etc filters work as well.  I have read the comments and articles and based upon my experience, paper filters are better for the overall health of my :biggrin:   engine.   :goofy:

Hi Flo Filter #HFA1801? It's paper/OEM style. Their catalog lists this for a 6th gen air filter, but only for 2002-2003. "No part available" listed for air filters 04-on (no ABS), and none for the ABS folks. I still have the OEM filter on my 6th gen., I'd be curious what the difference is (if any) between ABS models and standard models with regards to the air filter.

If you decide to take a gamble on the HiFlo filter, BikeBandit sells the HFA1801 for $33.

My brand new genuine Honda Parts Catalog for the VFR800'02-'05 (Interceptor) VFR800A'02-'05 (Interceptor ABS) lists the air filter on page 2-46 as Element, Air Cleaner for models (02 02A 03 03A 04 04A 05 05A) {all serial #'s} part # 17210-MCW-D00  Honda Code # 6915821

According to Ron Ayers dot com the price is $45 plus shipping.  Zanotti is selling it for $37.20 plus shipping.

After searching Google & downloading Japanese fonts for Adobe, it appears the filter is specific to the VFR.

It appears the filter is manufactered by HAOYE FILTER CO., LTD {Horse-Flying Manufacturing ** Pegasus**} in China and is listed as a Unique Air Filter with no cross reference.  http://hf-lightprodu...m/two/ho a.html  

The Hi Flo brand you found is made in Bangkok.

How come dirtbikes and lawn mowers use foam filters? Oems show up on ebay at times pretty cheap prices.
