Lemon Glow The New Vfr

Well I got my VFR..Bought Dasbones bike...WOW its clean! Lots of neat stuff on it to. BUT....I keep thinking a custom yellow bike would be nice for a couple of reasons...

1. much more visable
2. custom color and graphics...
3. yellow is my favorite color silver is second!

I can paint it myself I have years of painting, cars, bicycle frames...man are they a bitch to paint!

Paint scheme:

Dupont Hot Hues "Lemon Glow" a nice pearlish medium yellow. Paint the frame black like the RWB bikes, and lower fork legs. Do some custom VFR graphics on the side in silver( possibly use reflective material) with black outlines and Honda across the bottom with the same colors... Leave the wheels black with some yellow reflective bands on them for more visablity.

The bike is silver now with black wheels. Yellow keeps calling me until I go look at the bike....Hard to paint it since it still looks new...

If this is good, stock color bodywork, you'd be better served to sell it and buy some cheap scratched up stuff to repaint.

I dunno...I think theoxmole has the exclusive rights to owning a 6th gen. in yellow. :warranty: :biggrin:

Just kidding. I like yellow VFRs quite a bit. If I were to buy a 5th gen. it would have to be a Y2k in yellow. 'Nuff said.

Agreed, even though it does seem a shame to paint over pristine stock fairings. But give us some pics.

c'mon were not talking BSA Goldstar bodywork here, paint away...............

Just two suggestions:
1 the yellow you described sounds cool. Think about no graphics. That in itself is a cool statement.
2 Come to your senses and spray flat black on her and reap the performance bonanza.

i want to paint my 02 vfr, corvette velocity yellow. its like an 05 or 06 color.its very expensive too.

Do it! Dale's is sweet! Go richer. A DARK heavy fleck tangalo, (1), for a base. A clear, (1). And pale pearl yellow, (2), on top. Then clear.

Go...................... Do it now. LOL!

I actually thought about buying some eBay plastic to paint yellow and keeping the stock silver stuff...have a convertible! So to speak..

So no one thinks yellow is more visable? The silver is elegant looking. I just like the yellow...Heck I can always repaint it if I want it back silver...

I have a nice paint room :biggrin: I actually have the race car down to a bare chasis to respray it to sell...of cousr it was yellow and I am painting it back white...seems white is a more popular race car color...

corvette yellow should be no more expensive than any other color...Just got to a body shop supply company with the color code they can mix it for you no big deal...

yeah have to skip the flat black...something about not being seen in black... I bought all silver/white ridding gear...

The only problem is the VFR is in "top secret hidding..." Unfortunaly I can't bring it home....Wife okayed the purchase... BUT at 40 years old my Mom is going to go balistic... whoo 40 and still scared of Mom... :blush: Somethign about her uncle back in the stone ages getting killed on a harley...she is non motorcycle compliant.

The yellow I want it is really neat int eh sun it semi changes color...

Yeah, I was speaking from experience. I did the exact same thing except different color choices. I went with white and later black before those were choices from mother Honda:

I love my yellow bike. Yes, it is more visable, without a doubt in my mind. I say go for it. But I only say that because I see you live in Mississippi. . . a long, long way from Ohio! I wouldn't want another yellow one to show up in my area! :laugh:

As much as the yellow helps with visibility, I don't know how much it helps in reality. If a car driver isn't paying attention, bike color, gear color, loud pipe, loud horn doesn't matter.

I think frickin' laser beams are the only choice. :cool:

I agree I've almost been KIA'ed on the dam Bicycle more times than I can count. From people NOT seeing us..Our team bikes are bright yellow and we have yellow/blue/white kits we wear...Kinda hard to miss five or six guys ridding in a line, at least you would think so.. :pissed:

It is hard though the bike has some really nice silver carbon pieces on it that look really nice..of course they won't match the yellow. :biggrin:

I've always been captivated by toro1's treatment with House of Kolor tangelo pearl and black.

A lemon glow version of that would be quite striking.

A guy I knew from loooong ago had a 'Vette that was yellow with a blue pearl overcoat. The pearl really stood out in the sun.

If you could get that effect without having to add the pearl overcoat, it'd be sharp.
The vette got scraped within the 1st week out of the shop and that's not something I'd wish on anyone. :(
I've reached my emoticon limit per post.......

I paint with base coat clear coat paints. House of Kolor use a multi step paint system with clear coated top coat.

The Lemon glow uses a two step paint the pearl is in the base coat so its much easier to spray. You can also add more pearl in the clear but you have to do a final coat of straight clear on top of it before you cut and buff it.

I like the orange one thats a nice color. Bet it looks great in the sun! All the pearl paints are really neat when sunlight hits them.

Which pieces? I may have a fix, for you.

Not many there are one on each side down by the pegs, and the tank has carbon protector on it. Probably just pull them off if I paint it yellow and go with something else, probably clear stuff on the tank. it looks neat on the bike now since its all silver with the silver carbon pieces.

Well, IMHO, Leave the kick panels alone. But for the tank protector, use Duplicolor metalcast, (in yellow), then at least 4 coats of clear.

Wow that looks really nice. I'll go check it out. I've seen the duplicolor stuff before never used it.

I thought about painting the frame black like the RWB bikes, along with the pegs and all the other silver stuff..Basically go from Silver/Black to Yellow/Black.
