I recently bought a used 2003 VFR ABS with 11,700 miles on it. I usually do a complete fluids change whenever I get a bike, but after looking in the manual, Honda recommends changing the oil every 8,000 miles using GN4 WITHOUT moly. The previous owner was very meticulous about changing oil and keeping records of it. He changed the oil and filter every 3000 miles. Not sure what kind of oil he used, but it was done at the dealership. My question is: how often and what kind of oil does everyone else on this site use. When I was at the local Honda dealership the kid working the parts department told me to buy GN4 WITH moly. Should I return this oil and get the with out kind or will this be ok. Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum.
There are a number of oil threads in this forum that discuss just about every aspect of oil, including a multitude of opinions on what type of oil to use, frequency of changes, break-in periods, etc. While some of the choices and methods are based on science, much of it comes down to personal preferences.
My personal preference (after 6k mile break-in) is changing full synthetic (no modifiers) about every 3k miles with a filter each 6k miles.
BTW, I wish I was living back in San Diego once again.

There are tonnes of threads on oil so just do a search and you will be amazed the results.. Might even take a day or two to compile the list. So get ready... :comp13: I do mine every 5k.... Easier to remember plus it splits the 3k/8k changes!!
