I've Been Wondering Lately...

On a sixth gen VFR, if my coolant temp reads 149 deg and the engine is turning 10,000 rpm, what happens when the temp hits 150 deg?

Will the vtec engage the other valves at that point, or will it wait until I dip below and then back above the standard engagement rpm?

Or will something altogether different happen?

If you dont let your bike warm while gearing up It might be wise to let the tires warm As the bike does..

10,000 rpm, leaned in a corner, cold tires, may spell disaster when vtech kicks in.. JMHO..

So Vtec is off under 150...Intresting I don't remeber reading that in the owners manual

Look in the VTEC section. It lists the parameters that must be met for the VTEC to engage.

The "150" thingie isn't set in stone. Mine will * "kick in" somewhere around that. Sometimes yes at 150, sometimes no. Checked it a few times when I was really bored.......... :biggrin:

I found something pretty fun to do when you are bored. You might give it a try sometime. It's called riding motorcycles.

Pretty sure VTEC engagement happens from 149F and up. I just keep mine below 6800 rpm 'til it's warmed up to 150 or higher. Then warp speed, Mr. Sulu! :laugh:

yep agreed, it's just with a VTEC equipped VFR, it just gets that bit further from the boredom :wheel:

You will be instantly transported into a parallel universe never to be heard from again in this one! That's what my owners manual says just at one of those "! WARNING !" :excl: notes. It is very specific. :biggrin:

Mine has always opened at 149, on the dot. If I'm at 148, 6,800+, and the temp. goes up, it does not open, until the RPMs come back down.

Huh. The previous owner of my bike must've removed that warning sticker before I bought it. Wasn't in the owner's manual either. :goofy:
