2007 Tools Question!

I have been thinking. Those of you who have 07's, what tools came with your bike? The only thing I got in my "tool kit" was the spanner wrench for chain adjustment etc. NOTHING else. Did my dealer keep stuff or is that all the tools we get? Thanks.

I know you said 07 but my 08 came with the same. When I bought it, they said the tool kit is under the seat. I got all excited and when I looked, I found a small black plastic wallet type thing with the spanner wrench inside. I felt cheated. How in the hell can they call that a tool kit. Its one wrench that I probably won't use. :blink:

Others have ordered a tool kit from Honda for a pre-2006, 2005 was the last year for a full "toolkit". In my opinion, you can go spend a little $$ at Harbor Freight or even Sears/Snap-On, whatever and build a much better kit in the first place.

I think this is a great idea to build your own. Does anyone have a list of what is essential?

Yup, all you get now is the spanner wrench for adjusting chain slack. That's it.

Yep that's it on the 06's up. In fact, I was just at the dealer today to order the rear shock preload adjuster wrench. $15.50 for a little piece of pressed metal. But had no choice really......tired of running the rear too soft. Highway robbery.

Interesting question. My 2006 has the same full toolkit as the 2002. I guess the previous owner had picked up the tool kit at some point. When I was buying it, he told me "look it has a tool kit," and i was thinking "so what, they all do!" Makes sense now.

I got one of these free for joining the honda riders club a few years back: CRUZTOOLS-OUTBACKR-FOLDING-METRIC-TOOL-SET

Under $20, has a mini socket wrench, and the allen wrenches to fit the bike. It fits in the plastic bag and I've used it quite a few times.

If you'd just spent $1000 more and gotten yourself an ABS model you would've been able to save that $15.50.

Hey, given the state of the economy it seems that's how a lot of people work their finances.

It is called a tool kit for a reason.
Yeah, I thought that I'd never use that tool.
But when it came time to wire up my GPS, then my RD, it became the tool.

It also is very useful for keeping the tank up, so you can easily work underneath it.
I removed the 2 screws in the rear of the tank the first time.
DON'T do that! Didn't have to, and it kept my tank from sliding around when up.
