Thanks Found A Solution

Found a good solution for my knee woes with lowering peg thingies. Gonna give that a shot first to see if that helps. Thanks Veefer800canuck!

I haven't ridden one but the Ducati Multistrada is quite tall and seems like it would have pretty good leg room. The back end looks really nice but the front looks like a giant forehead. May be a good fit though.

Anything tall will be better on your knees - supermoto/enduro maybe?

Rode the triumph tiger 1050 an it pretty much was a do it all kinda bike. It was made for tall riders. It so far is my top pick for looks, handling, POWER, and comfort. I just know nothing of dependibilty or issues they have. I do know they lose alot of value fast which concerns me some. Also there is only one dealer within 2 hours of me. It is a great riding bike does it all. Its just a tad expensive for what you get IMO tho. Ive ridden a WeeStrom alot due to a close family member with one. Great bike but kinda ugly for my taste. As far as super moto type arent really my cup-o-tea. I like more of the sportbike looks rather than dirt bike. What ever i buy will be a 5 year keeper so sayith the Warden..um i mean the wonderfull Wifey :unsure: At this point its all research an test rides. New or used dont matter to me much. Just trying to get opinions on other Types of bikes to help narrow the playing field...

Of the bikes on your list, I've only ridden the FZ6, which I didn't like much, and of course the VFR, which I love. ;)

Two suggestions:
1. Have you looked into footpeg lowering blocks for your VFR? Also, I think some Buell pegs can be used on the VFR, and they're a little lower. Maybe a combination of lowing blocks AND the Buell pegs?
2. Check out the Suzuki V-Stroms (650cc and 1000cc). Not the prettiest bikes around, but folks love 'em. They're tall, relatively inexpensive, very versatile and get pretty good fuel economy.

Well, I don't know what I can tell really tell you.

I'd try a couple of things first though.

1 add a set of BLS's lowering blocks to your VFR. They are simple enough to install and might just open up that knee angle enough.
(that is if you really want to keep your vfr and are not using the knees as an excuse for a new bike).
2 make sure that the pants you regularly ride in have enough room at the knee. I had a pair of nice new jeans that made my leg ache everytime I rode with them. It turned out it was too tight at the knee.

If these don't work and you really need to get another bike, some suggestions.

1. try the big triumph sprint st, the FJR, and the Connie 14.

2. Try the FZ1 and the Standard SV1000.

Left side has the BLS footpeg lowering block installed, right side does not.
Both feet firmly on the footpegs, right in the center of the arches.

Cool, hope that helps. Don't forget to remove the footpeg feelers and replace with allen head bolts, trimmed short to thread in all the way and bottom out. Pics in my other thread.

The BLS peg extenders really help............ :fing02: .....now, about that Tiger. Really great bikes. I had an 07 Speed Triple, and it was bullet-proof for the 14 months I owned it. The lack of bodywork was an issue for me when it got Winter...coldest bike in my stable. Had Triumph had the "low-seat option" when I was shopping, I probably would have bought a White Tiger with Hard Bags, and might still own it (I really love that 1050 Triple engine). I was too short to be comfy on the stock seat. I bought the S-3, then they came out with the Low seat (for shorter riders), and a High seat (for taller riders)......an employee let me sit on his Tiger at Destination Motorcycles with the Low Seat, and I was flat-footed............ :pissed: ....Oh well, hard to beat a Sargent, GIVI, and Gen Mar equipped 6th Gen VFR for all year round, go everywhere comfort............ :fing02:

I need to meet up with you an sit on your bike with all these mods.Im not sure how often you get out this way.Im about 20 mins from destination cycles in west end of Knoxvegas. I really really fell in love with the Tiger. It has been by far the most comfortable bike i have ever sat upon for my size. Then i twisted the throttle an again fell in love with the sound an power. BTW they did make me a good OTD price on that orange tiger..I would prefer a White ABS tho. You just dont see to many white cycles. Im trying to find links to these things that will comfort up my ride. The best way i can describe the tiger is a mix of several types of bikes rolled into one package. It's comfortable, it handles, it GLH, an gets great MPG..Tis IMO one of the best looking bikes on the road, an best do it all bike..I do plan on buying a FI bonnie( ive allways wanted one since i was a kid) the new 2009's were just posted on Triumphs site.... :fing02:

BTW i didnt mean to delete my whole post.... :pissed: wasn't paying attention, my 3 yr old was pestering me for attention...Oh well in a nutshell VFR hurts me to ride need a solution sums it all up. Thinking of buying something new yada yada... :biggrin:

Almost SOLD my 03 VFR800 as i dont fit it in stock form, oem is for Japanese midgets under 6 foot,

I am 6'4" and THURN products (Germany) got me to stay with a VFR, let me know if any ?s on as I seem to be the only VFRD rider using this set up, thanks Doug
