looking to get a new vfr to replace my 04 with 25k+ miles, thinking a white 06 or a red/white/blue 07. are there any changes between the years? anyone have any leads on new leftovers?
bought y 04 in 04 for $8400 what should I have to give for a newer non-current model?
You can find some 06's and 07's with zero miles (leftovers) you just have to look hard enough. I would expect to pay almost 8k for one of those, but I don't understand why you want to get rid of your 04. The 06-08's are essentially the same bike. The only thing your getting is different injectors, refreshed dash, clear turn signals, and a few other minor things.
Different VTEC engagement / disengagement RPMs, kicks in at higher revs than it drops out = less possibility of having the bike engage and disengage several times mid-corner... not a big drama in my opinion but better design sense really.

Previous gen 6 vtec (like your year) activates vtec at 7,000 rpm. I think they changed it starting in 2006. Activates at an earlier (sooner) rpm (6,4000).
The VTEC transition comes on at 6400 rpm and goes off at 6100 when winding down. Honda did this to make the transition smoother. The 06-08 aslo has the 12 hole larger CBR1000 fuel injectors. The gear ratios are different on the 06-08 so that the VTEC transition happens at 100 mph in sixth gear. Mine is more like 103 mph indicated (not that I have ever been that fast.) Obviously the clear turn signals, there is the revised gauge face for the tach, clear turn signals and Honda changed the wiring harness for the 06-08's which is why the wiring recall doesn't apply to those years. You also get RWB, Pearl Black or White, Wine Red(not sure of the right name), and Silver colors from the 06-08 to choose from. Here you go.

Honda's Interceptor returns for 2006 in pearl white and pearl black colors with new ECU mapping to move the VTEC engagement point to 6400 rpm, as well as several styling updates described below. Here is Honda's description of the features and specifications for its 2006 Interceptor.

Mine still had an 11 hp dip during the transition until I had it mapped with a PCIII, but only had 5,000 miles on it when it was mapped and modded.
BR is right though, I would just buy some RWB bodywork and save thousands.

Instead of IN and OUT settings being 7K, they are something like 6800 IN, 6400 OUT....thus you have some leeway between activation and deactivation.

There is a new white '06 at Honda of High Point here in NC. When I tried to get it versus my '07 RWB, they priced it over $11,500.00 with saddle bags. Yep, I asked them if they were going to smoke dope on the job, couldn't they share? I mean, damn it wasn't the only '06 Honda made but they must be trying to break the record that Franklin is trying for. Good luck!!! :fing02:
PS - The RWB is the fastest colors Honda ever applied to two wheels. Ha! JD
Chenango Import Motors in Utica, NY has an 07 RWB ABS on the floor - last one. Buy it for 10k or less. Talk to Jeff. I got the last non ABS they had for 9k.

I stopped in there a few days ago.. The white 06 was listed at 9000 but they wre easy to tell me theyy ould take 8500.. I would try for 8000 or less out the door no more..
Yeah, 02 - 05 inclusive models had the VTEC kick in on reaching 6800 RPM and drop out at the same revs, so it is possible to suffer a little "stutter" if you happen to level the revs out right at the transition point, something I never had a drama with really.
06 models and onward kick in at 6500 and drop out at 6100, so once your in VTEC your definitely in VTEC, you have to back off the revs more decisively to drop out of VTEC. So if you happen to be in a loooooong sweeper and just happen to level the revs out at the transition point, the system won't have the tendency to slip in and out of VTEC...
