04Asphalt has got the bearings spinning. What is the oldest "new" VFR you have seen? The oldest new bike I bought was several years ago. I was at a Kawaski dealer in 2000 and I was looking at a used '96 ZX11 (green). The owner walked over to me and my wife and asked could he help. I said to the owner, 'If you had a new '96 in the wine color I would buy it so fast, your head would not stop spinning.' Owner - "Funny you should say that, I have one out back; STILL IN THE CRATE!!!!" Oh shite! Do I walk away and eat shite or buy the damn thing? I bought it on the spot and while the guys were putting it together, my wife and I went to rent a U-haul trailer. Seeing as this was my fourth bike to be added to the stable, my wife could not refuse. "You better learn to keep your damn mouth shut!!! We better plan on selling some bikes because we don't have room." Two weeks later, we started building a two car garage! :idea3:

In any case, hats off to your wife :fing02:

Sounds like you've got your priorities right! :goofy:
My bike sat in the showroom for over a year before I bought it, oldest I've seen in person.

I take that back... I saw a bunch of new in the crate BMW's from the 70's & 80's at Bob's BMW in Jessup, Maryland on my last bike trip!

Are those for sale? You talk a bout a neat find. Thanks, JD
Those Teutonic behemoths were old when they were new. Gawd, those Beemers are some butt ugly motorcycles.
Like they say: "You can always tell a German; ya just can't tell him much."

On Sept 10 (20 days ago), I bought a pearl white '06 ABS VFR fresh out of the crate (build date 12/05) at a local dealer for $8500 + T&L.
I know that at least until the early 90's you could still get an 86 VF1000R in the crate.
Bought my '04 last year for 6500 ;p
