I go to start the bike this morning and there is no display on the dash gauges. The backlighting is ON and the clock still displays. Everything else -- nada. No tachometer, no speedometer, no temp display, no trip display, no fuel display.
At a light on the way to work, shifting from neutral back into first, the display came on fully momentarily, then went blank again. It's got to be a ground or a loose connection somewhere.
The easiest way to start is by giving the accessible wiring around your fuses and heading towards the front of the bike a pull and tug to make sure nothing got loose there. Be sure all the fuses are seated and making contact. I don't have the diagram close by so I can't suggest any particular fuse.
There are a few plugs at the rear of the dash that you can only get to if you remove the front cowl. Any one of these could be loose or not making good contact. Removing the cowl will also give you access to the wiring that goes to the dash and can give you the capability of carefully probing the circuitry in that area to look for a break in the strips.
When I was prepping for the track I pulled a fuse that took out the instrumentation. I think I still had the clock, but didn't look much past the issue with no tach. It seems like it was on the parking lamp fuse, so check the parking lights for a quick indication of a fuse that let go.

The wiring harness recall was completed last January.
I still have headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals. No neutral indicator. I'll start messing with the fuses and wires tonight to see if anything is loose.
Any tips to take the front cowl off? I've had the fairings off, but not the cowl.
How about the parking/running light? The parking/running lights are on a different fuse than the turn signal. To get to the fuses you just need to pull the body colored panel to the right of the gauge cluster, the fuse box with be down there. You can also get to some other connections through that opening if you have small enough hands.

I can only give you the method of taking the cowl off on a 99 but I suspect the later models are done pretty much the same.
The mirrors have to come off. Then the screw under the mirrors. The dash cover and any covers that are attached to it.
Then any screws on the sides that may connect the cowl to the side fairings. Any clips in the opening by the forks and then the cowl should slide off with a gentle pull.
