Tallest And Widest Screen For Best Protection?

Who makes the tallest and widest aftermarket windscreen for a 6th gen?

I know Zero Gravity makes a Sport Touring windscreen for the VFR. It's taller than the double bubble by about an inch or so. I think Puig makes a tall ST windscreen too.


As for wider, I don't think you will find anything out there. They're all the about the width, unless you get a custom made windscreens I guess.

There's also the MRA Vario windscreen too.

I think Givi makes the fugliest tallest windscreen. :biggrin:

I have a givi, not the nicest looking, but it works.

I have one of these, also. It came on the bike. For some reason, the lower tabs sometimes pop out of their slots, and I have to push them back in, and push the windscreen down to reseat them. I know it's not from riding too fast! Any ideas?

Ok, it was easy, but you did open the door. On the other hand, I am glad to hear some positive feedback about the Givi, I just may buy one myself for my vfr. Do you think thatyours is defective or is it a flawed design? I just checked the price, it is about $140, right? At that price, it better not be defective.

Purchased a Givi this summer and seem to recall paying about $105. Can't recall where I bought it from, maybe it was RideNow. I'm 5'9 and instantly noticed the Givi touring screen took the wind off my shoulders. So there is less shoulder pressure when riding on the highway (i.e. less buffeting) and more comfort when riding in cooler weather (i.e. warmth). I can't say if it's any quieter than stock or ZG double bubble (I have both). In fact, Givi might be slightly louder - for my height. Ear buds or ear plugs take care of that issue. In process of installing Helibars, so that will probably change things. :cool:

The GIVI is the TALLEST. I have the the ZG sport touring screen and I was interested in the GIVI but it only comes in the smoke tint at this point.

I'm planning a cross country trip in the spring, and it looks like the GIVI screen will provide the best protection.

I find a taller wind screen moves the turbulance from neck level to face level. I prefer to have my head in free air and body protected so I find stock screen works fine for my size and position. A big screen sounds like a good concept but my observation is that most that I know go back to the stock screen after a while. No screen will protect your head unless your riding something like a ST1300

I got that "fugliest" Givi on my 4th gen. The strange thing is that the airflow is _worse_ than it was with a short windshield. In fact, it's worse than a naked bike with no windshield at all. The wind is channeled right into my face instead of distributing evenly. :(

Second that (regarding the turbulence from the Givi windscreen on the 4th gen). I swap between an OEM windscreen and a Givi windscreen on my 4th gen, only using the Givi in the winter (when there is need to block more of the air, which is a tradeoff for the increased turbulence & wind noise). Hmmm... it will get below freezing tonight here in Alabama. Maybe I should go out in the garage & swap them ...

Say, 2 questions about your fourth gen.
1. The front fender on the upper pic is not the same as the one in the lower pic. Is the upper fender CF, and is that a direct bolt on? (Not that I can do anything about that at the moment, but I thought I'd ask.)
2. What muffler are you running on your 4th gen? That does not have the satin/brushed-Al look of the OEM 4th gen muffler.

The fender is carbon fiber, it came with the bike when I bought it. It uses the same mounting points as the stock fender. It was kinda beat up and too "streetracing" to my taste, so I took it off.

It's a stock 5th gen muffler, plus an old Two Brothers connecting pipe, plus a piece of "perfomance exhaust tip" from Discount Auto.

I think you may be right. I'm 5'9 and I find that the stock screen puts the air right at my neck where it causes the most noise inside my helmet. If I sit up just a bit, it gets a lot better. So, perhaps a shorter screen would help, or even a set of helibars.

I think that 2nd pic of your bike is a really nice shot. I have the Asphalt, but pics like that one make me wish I could buy 2 more VFRs (1 Red, 1 RWB). :biggrin:

I have both Givi and ZG touring screen. The ZG touring screen seems to work better for me. And i'm 6ft tall. It directs the air straight to my helmet.
