Tank Pad 6th Gen

I am looking into getting a tank protector for my RWB 07. Suggestions on where to look etc? c Ideas? Thanks.

NVR2L8 has a tank pad that is an actual Honda part for the ST1300 (???) Try sending him a PM to check for sure. Looked nice. I too have a 25th Anniv and will be checking into it as well.

Tom, if you get yourself some 3M clear vinyl we can make a nice one at my place, I have stencils that I made from my Tankslapper kit.

As a second choice, I'd go with the ST1300 pad. All those others are more decoration than anything.

I wanna know what camera and lens combo is that guy using?

This sounds like something I wanted to do. Where can I get said 3M vinyl and what is the stencil you are talking about? Does it wrap around the tank?

For $15 dollars, just go with tankslapper kit, they also have 3M sheets though.

There are two sizes, and they cover the area where your jacket zipper might scratch the tank. I think you can buy the stuff from the tankslapper.biz website, or search for 3M protective film.

I think he's talking about the guy holding that big hunk of glass. Looks like a Canon L...maybe the 100-400 IS.

I bought some generic tank pad on eBay a couple years ago. It's a little larger than average. It's red and matched my 2004's Italian Red almost perfectly - except the tank pad is kind of faded now. It's still functional tho, so I won't bother replacing it for awhile.

Also, the pad has the VFR logo in silver printed on it. Nice. :)

Which set did you get? The HF or Snake Skin? How well does your leg 'stick'? I've got a half tank bra on my machine but think it's but ugly.

I've got the Tech Spec HF kit meant for an ST1300, which I cut down slightly and installed on my 6th gen. It's good to have a bench grinder handy, which they recommend as an easy way to chamfer the newly cut edges, just slide it along the emery wheel while it's spinning at a good pace one time and you'll have a nice edge that won't catch on clothing. The stick between gear and the pads, especially when I'm wearing my Rev'It! textile pants, is great and makes it easier to feed a little steering input into the bike through the tank. The stuff looks and feels kind of like spray in bed liner with a slight pebbling effect; there's small knobs and knots to the surface treatment that isn't totally uniform, pretty random, and doesn't look bad at all. I've had the "skins" on for about 4 months, so far no fading but that's not a very heavy test. For a protector against jacket zipper damage to the tank and its paint I'm using an old Mag-Knight magnetic pad that was left over from a previous motorcycle. So far so good.
