Hello everyone!
Given that I have just signed up, I'd like to greet everyone and introduce myself: my name is Cip and I have a black 2003 VFR.
Something's been giving me a lot of thought. Whenever I ride my bike when the temperature is below 10 Celsius degrees, the engine's temperature drops to 78 Celsius degrees. Is this normal or should I worry about it? If it isn't normal, could anyone please enlighten me and tell me how to solve it?

My concern came from a friend's 2007 VFR whose temperature sticks to 85 celsius degrees regardless of how cold it is outside. Whereas my bike's temperature goes down to 68 degrees when it is very cold. So my question now is: which is normal, his or mine?

His appears to be normal. I'd say even a little on a low side, since VFRs tend to run hot at all times. Yours dips too low IMHO.
My bike hovers around 98 constantly, unless I am on a highway and it is very cold.
I would give it a little more time and watch temperature closely. If it stays as is, change the thermostat.
If it isn't puking coolant, don't fix what ain't broke.

It's on the low side but if your thermostat was stuck open it would get even lower on the highway in cold weather, I've seen mine dropping to 55 Celcius in rainy cold weather (yes, I've had more fun in life!). I fixed the thermostat by running half a liter of watter wetter for a week this summer, it never drops below 72 now, average is 80.

You're welcome.
NO.
Thermostat is as dumb as they come. If it's cold it is closed. If it's hot, it opens up gradually until its fully opened.
