Title pretty much says it all. I need a right side mirror and there is one on EBay for a 2000. My bike is a 2003, but they look quite similar. Are they?

Bear...if the one on eBay is a true 2000 mirror, then it's not even close. I suppose it is possible the seller made a mistake and that perhaps he mis titled a 6th gen mirror as a 5th gen mirror. Post the link and I can check for sure. I happen to have lots of experience with mirror bases for the 5th and 6th gens for some reason...
If it's the pic of the one on the diamond plate, then that is for sure a 5th gen mirror and won't fit your bike. Sorry.
But if you happened to have a 5th gen mirror you can usually attach the 6th gen mount head to the mirror stock and have it work. The angle is not the same but close. :happy:

Thanks for the info Lobster, I appreciate. I'm still not sure if I want to pay close to $100 (Cananadian$ including shipping) for those GSXR mirrors and use the extenders.

It's tough, but good mirrors don't come cheap. If you need something to cover the mounting holes, you can buy 30-dollar aftermarket mirrors. If you need to see what's going on behind you, save some cash and get the real ones (and Lobster extenders, of course).
Also, OEM mirrors have much better chances of surviving a drop than their 30-dollar counterparts made of cheap brittle plastic. Two or three driveway incidents, and the factory mirrors will have paid for themselves. :)

I beg to differ, every bad mirror experience I've had, ended withe the mirror snapping off at the base(the stem breaks). It could be that you've had better luck because pre-5th gen VFRs have steel stems, as opposed to the cast aluminum stuff that's so common now.
I've used EMGO mirrors in the past on other bikes, and while the optical quality of the plastic mirror isn't as perfect as the factory glass, it stills serves the purpose pretty well, and at half the price too.

My Y2K mirror survived a 5mph drop. The fake carbon fiber Emgo broke in pieces just from riding in my luggage box for two days. I know, that's not enough statistical data, but still...
