Hi all
im still a bit concerned about my 2004 vfr. ive only had it a month, and my last bike was CBR600.
My vfr runs sweet at tickover and at high vevs, but if im in 3rd gear or above the enging runs realy lumpy until about 5ooo rpm. If i have the throttle shut or just cracked, its not bad but if i open the throttle below 4 or 5000 rpm its a bit noisy and very lumpy.
Is this just V4 charicter or is there something wrong?? Any suggestions would be great
Happy christmas to all!!!

Yeah.
What ^^he^^ said.
Mine runs like butter just above 5K.
I keep it there when on the highway.
thanks fellas
I love the bike but have just been concerned about this since buying it. I'll just have to keep the revs above 4 or 5k
another question is if i alter the baffles in the exhaust to give it a more grunty sound, will theis alter the fueling at all?
Not enough to be noticed.
I sugges that you do a search on the following:
- Exhaust gut
- O2 sensor eliminators
- Fuel Pressure Regulator
- pair system
I almost never drop below 4500-5000 rpm when riding. Get below that and the engine will feel a bit "lumpy" if you open the throttle a lot. If I am crusing along at a steady rate, such as on the interstate, I keep it around 5500-6000.

My 04 was concerningly lurchy at low revs. I thought that is might have been created by the PCIII and Staintunes the previous put on before me, but then noticed a lot smoother running when I put in a new air filter. It was a K&N btw. The snorkel came off shortly afterward. (one of the many low cost mods listed on this site) They just keep coming...
