Black Stebel Nautilus Horn

Anyone have experience installing one of these horns on a 6th generation VFR? I have a 2006 and would like to add one; before I buy it, I'd like to make sure it will fit and not interfere with anything.

Temps in Wisconsin are -15 Farenheit today, making it a perfect time to do a little winter maintenance. (Although my garage is only *slightly* warmer!)

Yes, it does, although there isn't much clearance between the header pipes and the right side cowl. It took me several tries of making custom L-shaped brackets before I got it right. Also, I thought the horn would probably be adversely affected by the heat coming from the header, but in actuality not that much heat is radiated from the pipes. My Stebel has been mounted in place of the evap canister for about 2 years now, and it still works fine.

Do a site search for my installation instructions with a ton of pics. Cutting to the chase scene, the best way to install it is to separate the horn (the black plastic part) from the compressor (the metal cylinder) and run a PVC hose between the two.

Just search this site for my instructions and pics.

Since I have an ABS, I located the whole unit on the bottom right side...
Canadian models didn't have evap cans at least in '05.
:+1: on no problems with heat related issues, going on two years now. :fing02:

I installed mine behind the left turn signal in the fairing. I made a bracket to support the horn that attaches to the fairing stay and mounted the relay on the old horn mount. I'm not the only one who has used this position - I saw some photos of a similar install in a post here a couple of years ago.

If you have a non-ABS bike, it will fit very nicely under the left hand side of the nose cowl.

Veefer: Did you use a relay for it, or just hook up to the OEM wiring?

Since I have a canadian model as well, I was wondering what you mounted it on?

Did you buy the horn at Can Tire? Or do you have a better source?

FYI I have one on my Gen4 under the left side mid fairing. Took some doing to get it to fit I will admit but works great. I also have these on my Gen4 but not mounted the same way all powered under relays for full power.
