At 35K miles I think my front shocks have never been serviced, as the bike is in storage I will take the shocks out and bring them to my Honda dealer (I suspect they're not so busy these days). My question is, should I take the rear shock in for service as well? Is it at all serviceable?
I wouldn't have a Dealer do any of this work myself, I'm guessing you could have a suspension shop rebuild & upgrade your forks for the same money as the Dealer would want to do a stock rebuild.

The rear shock is mostly an unserviceable item, but again a good suspension guy could do it for you, but I would be more likely to spend my money on a better shock upgrade vs spending a dime to freshen a stock shock. From a 929 or F4i shock mod to a new or used Ohlins.

Agreed. The stock shock is not serviceable in it's current form, you have to drill a hole in the shock body to release the nitrogen pressure then install a Shreader valve to recharge it. Most dealerships can't/won't do this kind of service, it's something you'd have to send it away for. As noted, going with a modified shock from something else is probably a better option.
One thing to keep in mind during this discussion is that at 35k miles your stock shock is certainly showing some degradation of performance. Even if it's not leaking, the fluid will break down and debris will accumulate inside there which will cause it to not work as well. I think shocks are often overlooked, rebuilds can really make a difference on how well they work.

He once hooked me up with someone for my front suspension/setting sag etc. I can't remember the name.

What's involved in doing an upgrade & rebuild of front forks? Stiffer springs? I'm not well versed in the topic, I have lots of reading to do.
I guess having a pro shop doing the work would be a good idea since my VFR is lowered about 3/4" front and rear. However I'm not sure I'm ready to invest the needed funds to do a rear upgrade at the same time. The question is whether I can find such a suspension specialist in Montreal, I'll ask around.
