O2 Sensor

I have a 2003 VFR 800 and I'm trying to bypass my O2 sensor the cheap way, can anyone point me in the right direction? Any modification help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

If you want to bypass the O2 sensors on the cheap, go to Radio Shack and pick up some 330 ohm resistors. Disconnect the sensors at the black and natural colered connectors down near the exhaust and put the resistors in the leads coming from the bike. There is a pic somwhere here on VFR-D of this. Will look to see if I can find it for you.

Search is your friend. How to Make Your Own 02 Sensor Eliminators. When I did mine I used a couple of small zip ties to ensure that the resistors didn't work their way loose, and then wrapped the connector and resistor with electrical tape before buttoning it all back up.

If you can it really is worth investing in the 'proper' 02 plugs, I had issues with my resistors after a while and sometimes when I really gave it some the FI light would come on..

then one day.. it stayed on :blink:

Luckily I got it fixed free at the dealer, and now with the 02 plugs the bike feels free and better low down in the rev range. Every 6th gen owner should have this mod as standard!

Where did you get the "proper" 02 Plugs from? The dealer?

Hi sorry for my late reply, I got them from the dealer who was working on my bike following the harness failure, I had an FI light problem too and I told them about the 02 plugs and they seem to know about them. A lot of dealers, especially Honda play dum when asked.

Yep that's how I did mine the 1st time, actually come to think of it I've done this to 2 VTECs now and everytime when it rained or I gave it some gas on a bumpy straight the FI light would flicker on and off untill it just kept ON forever on my latest VFR. Thank god for the under warrenty fix otherwise this would of cost me dear.

As I remember, the resistor leads fit very tight into the connectors and no solder was needed.
