I have decided that the Heli bars are too high on my bike. My head is about two inches too high and I get really bad buffetting on my helmet. If I bend my elbows down just slightly its much better. Its so bad on the interstate I have to ride with my elbows bent to keep my head from blowing all over the place...

I am going to buy some stock clip on's to try out. I saw some GP style clip on's for a VFR750 which look like a sport bike position anyone use them? They look like they may be too low... I can't seem to find anything besides stock and Heli bar height. Or the GP low and out one's.
I would like to try and get as close to my road bicycle as posible since I ride 3-5 hours at a crack with no problems on it.
Basically its due to my upper torso and arm's. Short legs long torso... I have problems fitting stock Bicycles right so I get custom frames.
For a VTEC, which uses 43mm clipons, try CBR1100XX bars.
The hot mod for XX owners wanting taller bars is to use VFR-vtec bars, so do the reverse.
What about GenMar risers with stock bars? They raise the bars 19mm.
You can also try a set of F4i bars.
Have to check it out F4i or CBR 1100.. I guess any year?

Have a set of these on mine. Made by Tomaselli. Lower and wider than stock. No clearance issues as they are now, and somewhat adjustable.

The question is do you like the riding position other than the buffeting?
If the answer is yes, than look at a high or lower windscreen. The biggest problem with buffeting is when the air stream hits the middle area of the helmet which causes the worst buffeting. By either raising or lowering the windscreen enough you move the air stream either above or below the center of the helmet. It doesn't matter if it's above or below the center bulk of the helmet, just as long as it's not in the middle part of the helmet.
It's really easy to figure if higher or lower would be easier just by raising up or squatting down in the seat an inch or two at a time until the buffeting stops while at hwy speed. Then you know which direction would be easier and more effective to go. You can cut down or try a double bubble depending on which way you need to go.
Otherwise stock 6th gen bars will drop you down and forward an 1''- 1 1/2" or move. :cool:
ps 5th gen bars won't work.

I did the leaning down and I actually like the lower riding position better. I Keep finding myself lowering my body while I am out on the back roads ridding through the twisties it just feels better to be lower and forward some. feels more like what my body is use to from the bicycle.
Exactly what it feels like. like the wind is hitting the helmet square in the middle.
I bid on a set on eBay today.
I am going to keep the Heli bars "just in case" I need to swap them out and use a diffrent wind screen for some unforseen "epic" long ride...

Get yourself a Laminar Lip and I'd be very surprised if it didn't solve your problem. I've had one on every bike I've owned over the last few years and I think they're the bee's knees. Virtually no wind-blast or buffetting at high speeds, plus, it allows you to hear that glorious V4 roar.

Its not just for the wind its for the position change. But if its still blasting my head I may try it out.

I originally got em for a CBR, traded the 41mm pinchers for the 43's needed and have had them on for about a year now. Infinite angles and heights* are possible.
*The higher you go, you'll have to get longer cables and hydro lines, which they also sell. :cool:
