Can some tell me the best place to install a power outlet on the 6th gen. Car type outlet. I would like to use the triple tree but the outlet I bought is to big to fit. Also thought about drilling someplace on the plastic but not really wanting to do it. Might just go with this if no one has any ideas.

I have the powerlet outlet on the triple tree. It's great. I have my GPS plugged into it or I charge my phone.

+ 1 for the Powerlet Triple Tree mount. I either plug my heated gear into it or, a powered tank bag and my heated gear. Works out well.
I installed a $5 cigarette type outlet under the seat of my bike. I plug my XM radio into it. When I need additional power for my GPS or phone or whatever, I have an extension cord that plugs into it and splits into two outlets. XM stays powered and I have the extra outlet for use.
There are plenty of nooks for stuff like this under the seat. I have mine stuffed in the hole below where your right butt cheek sits, just to the right of the main spar of the rear subframe.
I have (and sell) the Powerlet outlets. They make a nice kit for locating it in the Steering Stem, the front Black Panel, and back at the Passenger Rear Set. I installed one in the Steering Stem, as well as one in the side panel near the Rear Master Cylinder, which I use for connections direct to the battery. The other connects via my Fuse Panel under the seat.
Cost is a bit more than a generic Car Type, but well worth it IMO.

I just installed my powerlet on the steering stem. Ordered my parts from Tightwad. Clean, very usable install. Wonder why the heck I did not install it earlier.
I have one of those installed. It works great and is very clean. Pics are in the Tales of Zumo Thread. Just doa a search for it. My pics are towards the end.
I went with a Powerlet kit as well. I went back and forth between the steering stem mounted one and the panel-mounted one and settled on the latter. It's a nice clean install, it's hooked up directly to the battery so I can easily hook the Battery Tender up to the bike when I'm not riding it.

As long as your bike does not have ABS, was going to add a fuse panel there on mine, even ordered the panel from Jeggs. Went to put it in and there is an ABS control motor for the rear wheel in that spot :angry:
Question for everyone:
Do you have your Power Outlet switched or full time power?
I added a relay off the Lic Plate light for my Zumo, just not sure about the power outlet, was thinking just a manaul switch for it. Would like to have the power to charge the helmet bluetooth well I'm stopped. Power draw on the charger is only 250mA at 9volts (have to get something to step down from 12v) so for those 30min stops I don't see a problem killing the battery. Just not sure about leaving it powered all the time.

I have six on my bike, way more than I need. Two front left, two front right, and two below my thigh on the left side for heated clothing and all. Four are switched and two are unswitched (my Centech AP-2 fuse panel has ports for both).
I went with the Powerlet steering stem plug as well, and then use a 1 into 2 splitter to have one Powerlet plug and one cig lighter type plug for my cell phone or ipod to charge up in the tank bag. I use a fusebox/relay under the seat (fighting with the tools and manual) to switch the power so it is only on with the key turned on.
